KLM 737 Refurbishment

Hi everyone, I am sorry if there is already a thread regarding this...

Does anyone know when / if the KLM 737 fleet will get a refurb? Some of them looking quite worn on the inside... I heard a while back that they could be fitted with new seats, but heard / seen nothing since on my flights.

I'm not sure whether a refurbishment is something to look forward to.

They will surely use the opportunity to cram in more pax, either by reducing pitch or slimming the seats. Weight reduction at the expense of comfort will no doubt be another aim.

Those are my thoughts too. For primarily short routes the current seats and aircrafts are comfortable and I cant say I have noticed a massive deterioration in them in all honesty. If they do happen to renovate them they will install slimline seats which is an overall downgrade.

That will depend on how far back your relationship with KL goes.

Seat comfort has deteriorated for every new generation of seats. Once upon a time they were well padded and cushy even in economy, and business class had even better seats in a 2+3 configuration.

With the decision on the replacement of the medium haul fleet of AF/KL pending in 2018 it would surprise me if KLM does refurbish the 737 fleet now.

The oldest specimens will probably be replaced by the new aircraft somewhere in 2021 and up..

Does anyone know about the 4 738 orders that are listed on KLM's wiki page? Theres no source, so could be wrong?

Boeing says all delivered, so unless these are to be leased, it's not right.

According to airfleets, KLM took over 2 738 from Transavia last year. Maybe there's more coming?

They are planning to replace all 18 737-700s with 737-800s by 2022. First four aircraft expected next year.

Following 4 B737-800’s will join in 2019, indeed said to replace 4 of the -700’s. These are regular 800’s (no MAX, no Sky Interior afaik).

PH-BCH msn 62579 Op. Lease Mar 2019

PH-BCL msn 63624 Op. Lease Apr 2019

Out of the 4 new 737 aircraft for KLM, 3 of these are being built by Boeing as brand new, and 1 is being transferred from elsewhere. Photos of PH-BCG under construction on my Twitter (@OfficialGMoore) retweeted from a spotter at Renton.

I'm guessing as a result, the 3 newbuilds may have the sky interior, but they are NOT 737 MAX

I believe that at least one of these -700s has already left the fleet.

Confirmed: the 4 737-800's to be delivered will get the Sky Interior. See: https://insideflyer.nl/klm-ontvangt-...-sky-interior/

No rush on those 737-Max orders now, I bet :D
