That’s an airplane issue, not a crew issue. Due to the exit configuration, the 737-900A is rated for 189 pax just like the 737-800.
In a high density config like KLM’s (+ the way euro business is set up), that means that they can fly (at most) 186 pax on the 738 and 188 on the 739. (Even though the 739 has 192 seats.) What this means in practice is that with an equal number of J seats/passengers, the 739 can carry 6 more economy pax. |
These retrofits have recently seen some blog coverage. So I understand KL is using the more comfortable Recaro BL3710 as well as the more lightweight SL3710.
Now, the blogs report business gets the better BL seat, economy the lighter (and hence fuel-saving) SL seat. I realize economy comfort is part of economy--but do we know they will be equipped with the SL seat? |
