So do we have a definite list of which S/H KLc flights have the 'no drinks service' ?
AMS-BRU
AMS-DUS
AMS-HUM
AMS-HAM
AMS-LCY
any more?

Flew AMS-LHR and LHR-AMS last week. First trip scheduled for 1h15min and got full service, return trip scheduled for 1h10min and only water and snack in the package. Both KLM, so no KLC.

That's quite rare! I have flown that leg a dozen times recently and with an average actual flight time of 26 minutes cabin crew hardly manage to distribute their water packs and collect the garbage in time. You must have been lucky, was it the early morning flight?

yup, the 06:50 one. When I had to be in BXL quite a few times, this was the ideal flight. by car it would be a drama, and by train, would mean a read-eyed meeting....
The last time I flown that leg, we were with 30-ish pax, of which some 20 asians.

So what is the KLM policy on this ? is it purely down the discretion of the crew? I find that unlikely as the food has to be loaded in the first place?

You might want to add AMS-NWI (Norwich) to this list. When I last did AMS-DUS I got a tiny orange juice in a plastic cup package. I recall that business class got the same reduced catering. Bit of a cheek, really, trying to flog upgrades for this route at OLCI! Once I got an offer for €159!

I really do think it varies. Sometimes you get something approaching full service on those short routes, most of the time you don't. I once got it on AMS-CGN, but only once.

Last month in BRU-AMS & AMS-BRU. FA's will give the EBC pax a black bag with water or OJ, bread and a brownie/other snack. Then they serve everyone else using their trolley. So yeah everyone did got service. No newspapers on one of the legs though...

To be fair it is quite a challenge to get everything done on a fully loaded 738- although that would not apply to the OP's experience. Leaving it to the crew's discretion does not seem like such a good idea- there should be a service standard that the customer can reasonably expect.
On the other hand, you could fly BA in Y and, if you're lucky, be required to buy your food and drink (if in the first three rows of Y) or otherwise have to bring your own food and drink, because that trolley wont get anywhere near the back of the plane!
