Schipol airport for 7 hours

My friend will be transiting from 8AM to 3PM. He is travelling on KLM economy class and wants to know if there is a nice lounge he can pay for so he doesn't get bored out of his mind. Any advice would be appreciated.

There are two hotels within the transit area the Murcure and the Yotel. Have stayed in the Yotel before with a similar layover. Nice but a little pricy.

There are also some pay lounges available.

There are plenty of worse airports to be stuck in for 7 hours. Lots of restaurants and bars.

Hope this helps.

Schiphol website

He can only pay to get in to the KLM lounge if he is Flying Blue Silver (5.000 miles or E35). Exceptions have been made to allow other Skyteam Elite members into the lounge upon payment but this is not a published benefit.

Other than that there are other options as well as pointed out above. There are public showers available or at the airside hotels upon payment. The Schiphol website also has information on this.

If he fancies a trip to Amsterdam / Haarlem it may be possible within the transfer time provided his inbound flight is not delayed. If you do a search on this forum you can find more information what to do if you have a long layover at Amsterdam.

Most paid lounges have a time limit. Also, a lounge will also become boring (certainly the contract lounges).
If a visa is not necessary, go landside and go by train to one of the nearby cities! Easy, cheap and convenient to go to Amsterdam for example.

IIRC there is still a free city tour offered at AMS. Other amusements include an outpost of an art museum and a casino at the airport.

Why spend the time in the airport? Have your friend go into the city; AMS has very convenient connections to the city.
