The JetBlue Plane Name Game

UPDATED FLEET LIST:
http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/J...%20Airways.htm

People, it's time for some fun. List the names of planes you have flown on with jetBlue (both E190 and A320). I have not flown on the E190 yet, but about a year ago I started a running list of planes that I have flown on. Unfortunately, there are probably about 20 or so jetBlue flights that I have flown on from 2002-2004 that I never got the names of those planes.

I'll start (since I started keeping track):

Bada Bing, Bada Blue
Blue Traveler
I <3 Blue
Wild Blue Yonder
Betty Blue
Bippity Boppity Blue
Idlewild Blue
Blue Chip (2 times)
Blue Sapphire
Estrella Azul (2 times)
If The Blue Fits
Absolute Blue
Blue Jay
Blue Fox
Company Blue
Blue Jean Baby
Bahama Blue
Only Blue

***I hope I'm not the only one out there who loves the plane names they have! I will be flying FLL-JFK tonight and will post the name of that plane and my return flight Sun.

Let's get this thing going...please post the names of jetBlue planes you have flown on!!

jetBlueNYFL Apr 28, 2006 9:54 pm

Come on guys...I'm sure one of you can remember the name of at least one jetBlue plane you've flown on!!! Post any name that you can remember flying on! It would be cool to see who flew on the same planes.

Tonight I flew on Mo' Better Blue

MFLetou Apr 28, 2006 10:08 pm

'Ole Blue Eyes, IAD-LGB in Jan.

I flew Canyon Blue, DEN-JFK in December. This is the plane that had the nose-wheel landing incident at LAX last year.

Finally, this game is getting started! Yes, Canyon Blue (N536JB) is the aircraft that experiened the largely publicized sucessful emergeny landing at LAX in Sept. 2005. I think I flew on that aircraft some years ago, but if I did I am would not remember because I was not keeping track of which planes I was on back then.

Today, I flew on Blue Kid In Town from JFK-FLL. Great flight as usual.

scoobiedo May 1, 2006 8:16 am

I also once flew on Canyon Blue. Did Jet Blue end up retiring that 'name' after the emergency?

A few names of planes I've been on that I remember:

Devil With A Blue Dress
Canyon Blue
Song Sung Blue
Ba Da Bing Ba Da Blue (edited and added to the list - a favorite plane name!)
Blue Suede Shoes
Blue Velvet
Blueberry
Blue Monday
True Blue

Nope, jetBlue still has Canyon Blue's name in service - the tail design is boxes. I saw it a few months ago at JFK and there are still recent photos of it on jetphotos.net and airliners.net.

I've seen Song Sung Blue on the ground at Seattle and JFK several times. I think I might have flown on Blueberry...sadly, I'll never know and can't say it officially.

Keep the plane names coming! It's just for fun...nothing more.

jetBlueNYFL May 5, 2006 8:14 pm

Anyone have atleast one plane to list that they've been on?!?!?!?

This game for sure hasn't turned out the way I wish it would have! :(

DLDC May 5, 2006 9:48 pm

I flew on "A friend like blue" this evening. Definitely newer plane, great ride!

Previously also flown:
True Blue
Ba Da Bing Ba Da Blue
Bluebird
one of the Azul named ones

all i can remember for now

edit: spelling mistake

Today family members were on

For the Love of Blue

Hi everyone,

I've been reading the board for a while, but am new to posting. This seemed like a good topic to get started with. I'm a big JetBlue fan and have been tracking the planes I've been on for about two years. I got started with a list that was in JetBlue's 2003 Online Annual Report (http://64.106.229.11/jetblue2003/planenames.pdf).

In the past few months, I've been on:
Usto Schulz
Shades of Blue
Song Sung Blue
Blue Velvet
Canyon Blue
Blue Jay
Betty Blue
Tale of Blue Cities
Whole Lotta Blue

CapeFish May 6, 2006 6:13 pm

Out of the Blue in December from RSW to EWR.
Idlewild Blue returning from EWR to RSW.

Welcome to FlyerTalk! I'm glad my Plane Name Game convinced someone to join in the discussions!

Cool list from the 03 annual report. Someone on jetphotos has a running, updated webpage of the E190 and A320 fleets. Here are the links (I don't think it is official, but it is very very very accurate!):
A320 = http://www.angelfire.com/dc2/icebird...tBluefleet.htm
E190 = http://www.angelfire.com/dc2/icebird...ue190fleet.htm

UPDATED FLEET LIST:

Hope these are helpful as well!

Thanks for these links! This will make it a lot easier to keep track of the more recently added planes.

What does "usto schultz" have anything to do with Blue? Perhaps in a foreign language? Azul I get...

sh9168 May 8, 2006 9:58 am

Recommending a name

Does anyone know who to write to to recommend a name for a plane? I was thinking of Moody Blue. Or is there a plane with that name already?

I don't think there is. I thought of tons of names that are not in use and sadly I can't recommend them.

You need to work for jetBlue (I think inflight) to be eligible to participate in submitting the plane names. If you win and it is selected for the A320, you win a trip to France...if it is selected for the E190, you win a trip to Brazil. Maybe some jetBlue crewmembers on here can provide further info.

Question: Since jetBlue is selling at least 2, and possibly up to 5 A320's, does anyone know if the names on those older planes will be retired or repainted on a newer one to be delivered???

If I remember correctly, Mr. Schulz was jetBlue's first VP of safety and the plane was named for him when he retired.

jetBlueNYFL May 13, 2006 10:32 pm

On Thursday, my father flew on Song Sung Blue.

Tonight, I flew on Can't Get Enough Of Blue!

Post your plane names people!!! Just for fun...no serious business in this particular thread.

With B6 contemplating an expansion to Montreal how about: Sacré Bleu ?

And, if B6, expands to Milwaukee: Blue Cheese Head...

haha, those are good ones! There are so many possibilities out there.

Here's are two different lists of all jetBlue equipment and the names. The first link has more detail (did you know jetBlue pilots named on plane "The Biitch" and "Christine"???) , the second link has E-190 equipment names as well.

I posted those lists earlier in this thread (Post # 13 on May 6)...keep in mind that they are NOT official from jetBlue, however they are extremely accurate! The source is from someone on jetphotos.

I did notice that Sacré Bleu is already in use. Those JetBlue folks are pretty clever!

Christine is the nickname for the first 320 we took delivery of. The plane is "haunted" and stories to her "quirks" spread through the company like wildfire. Many times she seems to have a mind of her own and do whatever she wants to. I've flown on her once and didn't have any issues on her so maybe I was lucky or she just decided to behave.

Buster CT1K May 15, 2006 1:47 pm

I flew Deja Blue SEA-JFK on 5/14, and American Blue JFK-SEA on 5/12.

You have to hand it to B6. Who else would name their plane "Christine?"

It's not for the faint of heart or those who might have a fear of flying :)

How about when cell phones service is added, B6 could make a product placement deal and call one of its planes "Blue Tooth"

TWA Fan 1 May 16, 2006 2:37 pm

How about the name for a possible $5 drink coupon:

Blue Fin :)

IceTrojan May 16, 2006 9:56 pm

Yes! I'm the first to say I've flown on Canard Bleu! :D

That's my one and only B6 flight :(

TWA Fan 1 May 17, 2006 5:10 am

Perhaps a mea culpa that the current expansion was a little too quick, the following name could be applied to one of the new aircraft?

Oops! Blue it!
:)

jetBlueNYFL May 17, 2006 10:22 am

I read a joke on another forum that they wanted to rename Canyon Blue (the one which made the successful emergency landing at LAX in Sept.) to "Blue My Tires"

I don't think that would go over too well.....

JetBlueFA May 17, 2006 8:29 pm

100% rumor. The rumor actually gained some steam and the company sent our a memo stating that they had no intention of renaming Canyon Blue. I've flown that aircraft several times and it still is a great bird to fly on. I had no reservations getting onboard when I saw her show up on my pairing.

Yes, I know it was 100% rumor...please read my post first. I said I read a joke ...I know it was nothing official. Just thought it was funny.

N536JB (Canyon Blue) is a great aircraft and was back up in service about 10 days after the incident back in Sept.

CAL PHL FLYER May 19, 2006 6:51 pm

Blue Balls..lol

jetBlueNYFL May 20, 2006 12:21 pm

haha, Blue Balls. Don't know how an 80-year old grandmother would feel flying on a plane with a name like that!

How about Bling Bling Blue??

Yersterday, JFK-FLL, I flew on Out Of The Blue (I think it's one of their oldest ones and it still flies smoothly!)

TWA Fan 1 May 21, 2006 12:22 pm

It's amazing isn't it that a five-year old plane doesn't fall apart :D

That reminds me of flying from IND to DTW in November on a NW DC9-30. There were only two passengers on board and I had a chance to chat with the pilot. This specific a/c was buit in 1967. Even it flew smoothly! ;)

BTW, although the only other passenger and I sat in FC, I would honestly say I prefer the service on a virtually full B6 flight. JetBlue is great.

TWA Fan 1 May 21, 2006 1:20 pm

A few more ideas for JetBlue's marketing

. The Blue Period
, which would be designed by Paloma Picasso (JetBlue's Unconditional guarantee of excellence)
Blue Man Group The name JetBlue could give its elite TrueBlue flyers (200 pts or more per year)
Blue in the Face JetBlue's commitment to keeping its customers informed of anything (as in, we'll make sure you stay informed until we're Blue in the Face).
Blue Fin (I have already suggested this one) the $5 drink coupon
BlueThrough
The name given to a quick connection

On 5/19, I flew on Out Of The Blue, one of the older ones and on 5/23, my parents flew on All We Need Is Blue.
