I'm crossing my fingers that Jet Blue comes to Minneapolis. We sooooooo need somebody to use their sling shot to hit Northwest. We had Sun Country but that has since gone under and come back with not much force. Southwest has been up here and nosed around but were also scared off by NW I think. Jet Blue would be a nice addition...and I'll keep those fingers crossed!

[B]JetBlue could easily beat Southwest and Airtran. Southwest's cattle-car seating is frustrating for a business traveller let alone a leisure traveller. The tension created is unnecessary. Airtran is notorious for being late and having some of the rudest FA's flying today. </font>
Southwest and ATA, not Airtran, are the "hub" carriers at MDW. ATA, FYI, has a solid reputation and offers advanced seating.

JetBlue also picked ONT in S. CA. Allows them to expand beyone LGB.

Wow this reply of JetBlue is really impressive. I think no other carrier would even think about to give these route information to the public

They probably didn't imagine their single e-mail would be read by hundreds of fliers.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm another one in favor of MSP service-- both east to JFK and west to LGB with connections.

I've flown ATA again to avoid paying CO's exhorbitant fare and have no qualms against them. I just think that JetBlue offers something more with its DirectTV at every single seat.

Jet Blue has always made this information public by way of news releases. When they announced they would be forming a LGB focus city, they announced all the cities they intended to fly to. When they announced they were forming a new airline from JFK they announced all of the cities that they were considering service to. None of this is new information, or secret information as far as that goes. The thing Jet Blue has going in their favor is that, although it might normally be unwise to let your competition know what you will be doing, their competition can't do much about it. Slots at JFK and LGB are tied up by Jet Blue and no other major airline has access to additional slots.

Minneapolis would be the most interesting, but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

If JetBlue comes to Chicago, they'll go to O'Hare, even if it means going to the International Terminal like Spirit did for a while before they got access to one of Delta's spaces at L3. That way, they have another point of differentiation against Southwest and ATA for travellers in the northern half of the city.

I can't imagine, however, that JetBlue would try to fight Southwest, ATA, Spirit, United, and American in Chicago-Florida. They'd be better off flying to JFK, IAD, LGB, SLC, and OAK first.

I think B6 would actually *prefer* the int'l terminal - like JFK, it's not busy until 2PM and quiets down after 7PM. And you can get in and out of there easier than the domestic terminals with its dedicated entrance/exit.

Better than MSP, I think would be JFK Houston/Detroit. The latter two have good O&D, sky high fares on CO/NW, and no WN competition.

MSP only has nonstop competition from NW on this route, and WN isn't anywhere near MSP, while they do fly from both DTW and HOU, with a connection, to ISP. So MSP seems like as good, or better, choice than either HOU or DTW.

I think you're understimating how undesirable it is to fly DTW/HOU to ISP with a change of planes, and then be still an hour from Manhattan out on Long Island. Nonstop to JFK would be MUCH shorter travel time, by my estimation about half.

Actually, WN does not fly from DTW-ISP. You have to purchase two tickets (DTW-MDW/STL/BNA; MDW/STL/BNA-ISP) in order to fly this route.

There was an article in the Chicago Tribune that JetBlue was negotiating with the City for gates at ORD.

A piece of advice in dealing with City Hall, and unmarked envelope with some Franklins in it goes a long way in clearing up last minute redtape http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
