Blue basic fares board in zones E and F. If you show one of these boarding zones you are not permitted a carry on size bag.

An ironic situation:
I had booked a basic fare long ago, decided I wanted to carry on a suitcase, so purchased EMS. Mechanical issue put original plane out of service, so an hour delay to get a new aircraft. Gate agent called Mosaics, then general boarding all rows "The sooner you get loaded, I can break for lunch!" So, he wouldn't have cared in the end about basic carryon. |
Disappointed for Jetblue
Tho, it won't impact me on my upcoming Blue Basic fare travel, I'm sad that Jetblue has embraced the "no carry-on" pricing approach. While Jetblue is still a good airline, the efforts of further un-bundling flight benefits, bring closer, the airlines to the country's worst airlines. Sure, Jetblue's executive might claim, customer demanded it, but what average traveler want to travel without most of their daily necessities like clothes? I know, in the realm of currently airline industry, baggage fees are more and more common. Jetblue's once, free checked baggage policy has dwindled to 1, then none with one carry-on and personal item (prior to July 2021), to now, nothing but personal item. Jetblue still provides some perks like free wifi, leg-room, entertainment, and snacks. With the way executives are chipping benefits away, these items will soon be on the chopping block. Jetblue used to be one of my favorite airlines. It's slowly becoming the next Spirit and Frontier. With fees like carry-on baggage fees to the lowest of the fares, B6 will likely lose many premium passengers to other carriers. Seem my time of flying Jetblue is coming to a close. Will likely return to United, Alaska, Southwest and Delta where I have status...
Jiburi My upcoming B6 trip is just a day-trip. My carry-on is strictly blanket and pillow for my inflight, bag easily unpacked inflight and placed underneath my seat. No clothes will be packed. |
For JB Plus cardholders flying on a Blue Basic fare, does anyone know whether the free checked bag would cover a gate-checked bag? For an upcoming trip, I'd rather not check my bag pre-security and then have to wait for it at baggage claim upon arrival. But I also don't want to get dinged $65 for the carry on fee.
Thanks in advance for any information. |

If you check it at the gate, it still goes to baggage claim at your final destination.

Can’t believe the free checked bag doesn’t apply to a carry-on, if preferred. JetBlue has really declined from its glory years. Sad.

I have AA Gold status and am flying on a Blue Basic fare this week. Do I get a free carryon bag? I see Mosaic members do, but no mention of partner elites.

Wait so this means Jetblue no longer allows you to have a free carry on anymore? So its just a personal item? I usually fly with jetblue, delta or american. I usually have one checked bag, one messenger bag which is my carry on ... and a fanny pack which is my personal item.
So if i have the same items... i need to pay to bring my messenger bag with jetblue? If so, how much is the cost? |

Does having AA status override the no-carryon rule for Blue Basic fares? The partnership rules are confusing. Thanks.

Messenger bag is pretty big... like a laptop bag.
But how much does it cost now to have a carry on with jetblue? |

Website could be much more explicit about AA benefits… |
