Is it because they are not part of a specific alliance like BA?

More like it is because of the way their program is structured. AmEx transfers in to it generally a pretty bad deal.

If you want to exit the secure area, there is a full service restaurant on the second floor of the "terminal" above the check in area.

Breakfast upstairs there is tremendous. I'm a fan.

I hold elite status with three alliances and I can honestly say that B6 offers a better Y product than any legacy airline. You get free snacks, free IFE and in my experience, an excellent crew. If I ever lose status or they end up serving my needs more, I'll be flying them a lot more.

Back in April I flew them RDU-FLL then DL MIA-ATL-RDU. Despite being Silver Medallion with DL, I enjoyed the B6 flight more.

Agreed on this for sure.

Ditto.

It is the best Y product flying in the USA right now IMO.

I concur. While I have had some FA's who clearly were not having their best days, the number is far less than on any other airline. My mother was on a flight over the summer delayed by the usual summer afternoon storms at JFK and there was some question whether they would leave and while everyone was bombarding the Gate Agent my mother saw one of the pilots (my mom could not recall if she was the Captain or First Officer on the flight) waiting in the gate area so instead asked her about crew legality because knowing that there was a 5 hour+ flight ahead if the crew had flown in from elsewhere the clock has started so my mom would know what time they would have to leave by and if it was getting close she would know to get rebooked before the flight cancelled. Turned out it was the first flight for the pilots and the second for the FA who were stuck at where they were RON waiting for the weather to clear so there would be no issues with crew but the pilot did appreciate my mother's kindness and not bombarding her with stuff she had no way of knowing that later on the afternoon when the pilot saw my mother walking in the terminal she gave my mother updates that were not being broadcast over the PA so my mother had more up to date information than the rest of the passengers

Part venting and part wanting a reality check:

Just flew on B6 for the first time, JFK-SFO, and didn't really enjoy it. (I would have flown this on Delta, but someone else was paying and insisted on it - so I went in with an open mind.)

Browsing the forum, it seems like JetBlue is great if you have no chance of elite status elsewhere and, overall, you're guaranteed a TV compared to the mixed fleets on other airlines.

On this flight, both myself and my +1 had broken TVs. At the point that the FAs offered the buy-up to Even More Space, we tried to signal it to any of the FAs but three ignored us and eventually turned off the call button while walking by (back turned).

Finally, during the beverage service, one of them told us they already knew about the problem before we even boarded, had written it up, and there was nothing they could do. Then stared at me. No offer to do anything but comp a drink or give a vague "voucher". This is after they had been moving folks around in the cabin, so when I pointed out that they could move us, they only had middle seats left.

It made an impression that they did nothing to remedy a problem they knew about until it was too late to do anything, and then had a noticeably surly demeanor in discussing it.

Overall, the whole experience seemed like nothing better than "acceptable". Not at all special. It reminded me of flying on the new United, or Southwest-with-a-TV, and nothing about it was better than Delta would have been.

What am I missing? Is this a one-off? Why do people like this airline so much?

We like it because that was unusual behavior by the FA's. Not sure how you allowed them to just walk by and shut off your call button without a "hey you" or similar.

Contact B6, tell them you had broken VOD, and they'll throw a bunch of extra points your way.

Did you at least enjoy the extra couple inches of legroom and better snacks than Delta gives you?

This. I am a six year 1K on United (plus a million miler) and after trying B6 for the first time last weekend I am a fan. Great onboard product and it felt like Even More Space had even more room than Economy Plus. I wonder if B6's seat pitch is actually greater than UA?

You can't beat B6 in Y for a solid product and service. Very impressed.

JetBlue is pretty great. And their Twitter team has been very helpful. More helpful at times than customer service reps. Unlimited free snacks (I sometimes get 4 of them on one flight), full size cans of pop, direct tv, more leg space, a travel bank....I recommend them heartily.

I have to agree with you. Being PL with American and being used to the F cabin on 90% of my flights I wasn't impressed with B6 at all. To me it had a kind of Ikea of the skies feel. I had an F seat on AA 18(SFO/JFK) this past Saturday and it was cancelled. Bought a ticket on B6 to make it back to BOS.
I was glad to be able to fly home, however it was just an odd experience.
FYI I had 11A and didn't it find roomy or comfortable! Again, I'm used to American, to each it's own!

I think you answered your own question here... of course if you fly in F everywhere, B6 will feel like nothing special. You just can't compare an F seat/experience to any econ seat. If you were a peon who flew everywhere on discount Y fares, you would (likely) have a different opinion. B6, as a whole sends the message to peons with no status that they care about their business, whereas Delta, UA, AA, etc. give their peons the impression that they frankly could care less. And everyone has bad days, there are days on B6 where the crew or the plane may not meet expectations for whatever reason. But by and large, they give an overall pleasant flying experience to those who have no hope of flying the way the elites on the majors do.
