I have a interview next week for airport ops position. I've heard the interviews are pretty intense. What happens during the 6 hours? Is there anything I should be prepared for? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!

I applied for an A/O position recently, took part of a phone interview, went on a face-to-face interview, and I am now awaiting the results of my background check. I tried to check the status of my application on JetBlue's website, but it doesn't list the staus of my current application. What could this mean? Does anyone have any insight as to what the next step is in the hiring process?

Also, I sent an email to thank the recruiter after the interview, but I was wondering; how long should I wait to contact the recruiter once again without seeming too desperate or annoying?

Any information would be greatly appreciated :)

Background checks can take quite a while to process through. It all depends how easy it is/was to track your movements over the last 10 years. I think mine alone took 3 weeks. If you are being processed with a background check there is a very strong possibility that you will be offered a position as the background check is a huge endeavor to undertake to not offer a position to somebody, unless something negative turns up in their check. I'd give it another couple of weeks.

I echo that-- my JB background check was by far the most stringent I've ever had. Can't hurt to call the background check company or the recruiter and ask for a status update.

I noticed that this thread hasn't been active in months but I am taking a chance to post my question just in case someone catches this. I applied for the AO position with JFK on 5/16/12 and I haven't been contacted as of yet. I know it can take time and I have to be patient but I'm a bit concerned with my application. I've applied for other positions before and under my candidate profile I can see the links for those older positions and click on them for a description. For some reason I am not able to click on the link for the AO position. Does this mean that the opening has been pulled and my application was withdrawn? Also if you are not considered, do they send you a thanks but no thanks letter? I haven't received one from the other positions that I applied for and I can't withdraw from them either. I've read on their site that if you are disqualified for a position you won't be able to withdraw yourself from it so that answered my question on those two applications.

This is the first time that I've really wanted to work for a company. I've done my research on this company and I love their corporate culture and values. So far I've seen that their employees are happy with their jobs and I would love to be in the same place someday. Any information is helpful.

Did you receive a confirmation email when you first submitted your application? If so, no worries...you're good. Also, don't worry that you can't pull up the specific job description. Just make sure it's under the positions you applied for.

Thank you for your response! Yes it's still under my candidate application section. I hope they call me back. I have to meet with a British Airways recruiter next week but I would prefer to be part of the JetBlue team.

I do have another question about the application process. I applied on 5/16/2012 for AO at JFK. From what I read on different forums and this one is that they can contact you in a few days from applying or even a few weeks. Is a few weeks normal? I know having patience is part of the waiting game but I would like to know how long is too long. I know they get so many applications that they don't send rejection emails anymore. I just really want this job. Actually I've never wanted to work for any company like I do for JetBlue.

On a funnier note, I made a mistake on my cover letter by typing Aiport instead of Airport, twice. I am kicking myself for that typo and not spellchecking my document before submitting it. I did submit a corrected one as part of my profile.

Yes-- it's normal. I believe it took over 6 weeks when I first applied.
