Another cool thing added to my previous post up 2 from here.

Considering both the generally high quality of food and drink found here as well as how much Japanese like to drink beer the relative lack of discernment among beer drinkers here is disappointing. At my local supermarket I can find excellent Japanese liquor as well as high quality Scotch, Bourbon and wine. The beer selection however is hopeless.

Oh you definitely need to get thee to a Tap Room (the beer is brewed in Numazu) by BAird Beer with locations there, Harajuku, and Naka Meguro.

Beers that would cause massive lines to form at the Portland Brewers Festival if they went. Very very good beer of many varieties available on vacuum pump taps (and they apparently keep the pipes clean because it always tastes fresh).

All this discussion of Ebisu and Asahi will quickly be forgotten.

Methinks valve bouncer must not be in Tokyo, since the foreign and domestic beer selection is pretty good here. There are even a handful of tasty and ubiquitous Japanese microbrews like Yona Yona.

You might not have micro-brews, but you no doubt have good drinking water ! :)

So this week, the Japan Open Tennis tournament is on. Some guy named Nadal is playing, as are Roddick, Monfils, Tsonga (who lost in round one to Nieminen), etc.

It's not on TV at all. Ping pong and rugby appear to be higher priority, as are repeated showings of the Liverpool-Blackpool football match.

Yesterday, one of the coupon shops at Shinjuku station sold me a Y15,000 ticket for the finals for Y8,000. I suppose it was in large part because it was a single, but still, I will be sitting in the 6th row up from the side of the court, very possibly to see Nadal play.

Guess tennis just doesn't count here, bring on the ping pong!

The tennis craze from "Prince of Tennis" has died off.

As has the phenomenon known as "having extra money".

Unlike previous years, this stuff is actually not bad. It tastes like a citrusy/spicy fruit/ginger ale punch and would probably mix well with tequila or rum. Has the trademarked Diet Pepsi aftertaste.

Caution: De gustibus non disputandum est & YMMV.

It looks like the Autumn 2010 flavor has been released....Mont Blanc Pepsi anyone?:p

Words fail me. Probably because I'm nauseated.

On first opening, the bouquet is intriguing & smells like the stuff may actually be nice.

First mouthful/gag/swallow - reminiscent of Bhopal effluent stream with over-sweetening & carbonation. Distinct chemical factory aftertaste.

Avoid. :td:

Just as a matter of interest, what does the marketing material suggest that the flavour of Mont Blanc ought to be?

Maybe I'm being naive, but I'd assume it was supposed to taste like a Mont Blanc.

Tension between China and Japan

Do you know Japanese people are nervous these days because of this ?

Chinese fishing boat intentionally crashed into a ship of Japanese Maritime Safety Agency. Some insiders leaked it.

I just found the clip. You will see this on major TV networks soon.

Thanks for the report above.:)

Is there any evidence in that video that the Chinese vessel was doing anything but keeping its course? As the overtaking vessel, the Japanese boat is responsible for avoiding collision.

It's time the Chinese navy patrolled its territory to put a stop to these shenanigans.

Anyone tried KenKen ? This puzzle also comes from Japan.

Personally, I find it more addictive than Sudoku.
