Some JR timetable changes March 15

On March 15 there will be some revision to JR timetables.

Ok i'm just reading this from other railfans, there seems to be a bunch of minor and some major changes, but I'll just put the ones that we often discuss here on flyertalk.

All Nozomi and Hikari Shinkansen will now stop at Shinagawa Station in Tokyo.

There also appears to be a few additional NEX (Narita Express) that will stop at Shinagawa.

This sounds good since I always prefer a transfer at Shinagawa whenever possible.

The original 0 series Shinkansen (doing Kodama services on the Sanyo Shinkansen) will be phased out by the end of the year, ride them while you can.

Are they still going to run on the Hakata-Minami line in Fukuoka?

Most likely not, the 0 series is done with.
They're going to be replaced with eight car 500 series trains !!! For Kodama services on the Sanyo Shinkansen, as the current 500 series is being displaced by the newer N700s on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen..

Do you mean the Hakata to Minami Fukuoka(Hakata) station or the yet to be completed line to Kagoshima?

In non-JR news, the Odakyu MSE also starts running on 3/15, offering limited express services on the Chiyoda Line connecting out into Odakyu-land.

Talking

Not to go off topic too far, but I enjoy the N700 series shinkansen in Japan!

Although the walk can be a bear due to the length of the train! :P

Sanosuke!

Enclosed: Link to pic of shinkansen I took from my hotel room at the tallest hotel in Hamamatsu, Japan. Compare local train on right to shinkansen on left.
