Taco Bell in Tokyo?
 

My wife and I are here with my little brother who is stationed in South Korea. He has been out of the states for about a year, and Taco Bell is the only fast food that he misses.

We have seen countless McDonald's, some Subways and Wendy's but no Taco Bell. Does anyone know if there are any in Tokyo???

I saw that on the website, too, but when you search for locations, you can only search by zip code.

I haven't found a place to search by country or city.

There is a building in Ebisu that is the KFC regional HQ. This building used to say it was the KFC/Taco Bell regional HQ but lately I noticed that Taco Bell is gone from the sign. As I don't recall seeing any Taco Bells, they might have vanished from Tokyo -- if there ever were any -- just like Burger King did.

Circumstantial evidence, I know, the HQ could have just moved, but....

Why are you looking for Taco Bell in Tokyo since your little brother is stationed in South Korea?

Assuming that he is in U.S. Military, isn't Taco Bell available in his camp?

I've always thought everything is available in U.S. camps.

BTW, does Wendy's still have restaurants in Asia?

I heard they closed down their operations in Asia.

I just did some search on Yahoo!, and figured out that Taco Bell had some branches in South Korea, but now they are gone.

Wendy's Japan is still alive an kicking, here's their homepage (Jp only). When living in Tokyo I used to get my chili fix there on occasion for lack of convenient alternatives...

Probably they don't exist elsewhere in Asia though Hong Kong and Singapore likely have them.

Wendy's also did have some branches in South Korea, but they moved out.

It's not easy to see Wendy's in the states either.

He's stationed at Camp Stanley, and he said the closest Taco Bell is a $25 cab ride each way to Camp Casey. He's actually gone to get it before, but I guess he does other things while he's there. I was hoping he didn't go just to get a $51 bean burrito! :D

There used to be a Taco Bell in Nagoya..years ago.

Tokyo has El Torito (a U.S. chain I believe) there is one in Shibuya and One in Omote sando (a few others are around Tokyo).

Not a chain, but still reasonable prices and good taste in Shibuya: The TULA Mexican bar & restaurant. Tacos should be less than 1000 yen still.

Now I see what's going on. I just glanced at your original post, and wasn't aware what was going on. So you and your wife went from Long Beach to Tokyo and your bro came from South Korea to Tokyo, right?

BTW, it's the beginning of March, does your school have a break or a recess during these days? Are you in a public or a private school? You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I'm just curious because of the break.

Is your brother also having a break? Once I met a U.S. military personnel who was stationed at Yongsan on a UA flight from NRT to ICN. (I don't know the camp's name.) and he just had a week of a break in Tokyo. He said that the government was paying for his break in full. He told me that the government paid USD500 for RT between ICN and NRT which was overpaid IMHO.

I think those maps are outdated, anyhow tell him to check out Camp Red Cloud whether they have Taco Bell or not.

I don't know how long is he going to be stationed in South Korea, but if he will stay in South Korea quite long, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a car. The man that I mentioned above told me that he had a car and a motorcycle in South Korea. IIRC, he would be stationed in South Korea for three years. IMO, getting a motorcycle is not a good idea, but a car would be okay.

I work at a public, year-round school, and on my schedule I work for 4 months, then I am off for 2 months. It's a great schedule for traveling, but probably not so good for my students.

My brother took a two weeks leave, but the government is definitely not paying for his break! Instead I used NW miles to get his ticket (actually two different tickets: ICN-NRT-HKG and back in WBC.)

I don't understand it. HOW COME THEY ARE NOT PAYING FOR HIM??? The man that I named above said that the government afford the expense of trip for military personnel. He told me that they don't pay for Business Class, but at least they pay for Economy Class. Anyhow, it's still good that you have enough miles to give him.

BTW, are you paid when you are off for two months? IMO, that's a great schedule. I wonder if there is any job that has more vacations or breaks than teachers. Many people think that teachers have longer break or vacation than others.

There used to be a Mexican rest. in Shibuya that had a lunch buffet for around 1,000 yen. It was located near the salt museum. Does anyone know this place and if they still have the buffet...I am hungry.: ).
