Face Express Question (Entering HND)
Hello, I watched a video where someone showed the new Face Express lines in Haneda. They look like they save a bunch of time, but from what I am reading on the website it seems like you need to use a kiosk in the airport to register your face and info before you can use it. Does this mean that I won't be able to use the Face Express when I land in Japan, only when I go to depart? Is there a website where I can input that information so that when I get off the plane I can just use the face express lane in terminal 3? Thank you in advance!

Face Express is for the Departures side, I usually get scanned for the first part when I check in (Delta and JAL). You can then use the Face Express line to enter Security and then head to Immigration and then out. That also depends on if they're using it when you get there.
Arrivals works best if you fill out your forms on VisitJapanWeb and get the QR codes for Immigration and Customs. Depending on how busy it is the Immigration QR might save a couple of minutes. You should use the Customs one as soon as you get to baggage claim at one of their kiosks while you're waiting for you bags, then you should be able to use the e-gates on the way out. The Customs kiosk takes another picture for their system.

thank you for the reply! i can't post the link as i do not have 5 posts yet but the video i mentioned shows a man getting off the plane and using a facial & passport scanner machine to avoid the long line shown in the background in order to get into the baggage claim area. i am now noticing it says priority so it may be for higher paying customers. i definitely plan to fill out all the forms on the visitjapan site that's what i did on my last visit in 2016 but these facial scanners are new to me and seem pretty helpful! thank you again
edit: here is the video link
the machine is at 9:40 in the video

That looks like the automatic passport gates for arrivals ( for japanese pax only) as they were being directed separately from the visitor line.

For departing passengers from HND, myself, husband and daughter got to try out the Face Express service at HND in September (used JAL for flight to U.K.).
At no time did any of us see an option to select English so we all muddled through with the default Japanese setting. Perhaps the option is there, but we registered three times (with a Japanese passport and then two British ones) and never worked out where it might be.
Language doesn’t seem to be mentioned in the information on how to use the service.
