Longest domestic flight with First Class?
I'm planning a trip to Japan next year and I'm making a list of routes and planes to tick off my bucket list.
What is currently the longest domestic flight in Japan?
Which among the longest routes has domestic first? Or even better, always gets an international wide body subbing for the domestic planes?
I have never flown on the 787, so that will be on my list. I would think both ANA and JAL use their 788s and 789s domestically? I would not suppose that 787-10 flies domestically?
I've been on the A350 multiple times, although it would still be interesting flying it within Japan. Likewise with the A380.
Thanks for any info!

MMY-HND is blocked 2h50, and has 2x NH 787s each day. ISG-HND is 2h45 on 1x787 and 1x737 each day, as does CTS-FUK (2h20). JL has eight 350-900 services between OKA-HND each day (2h30).
No domestic 380 services I believe.

No, ANA and JAL both have separate fleets for domestic operations and international operations. Once in a while on an irregular basis, some international feeder domestic flights out of NRT are operated by international configured aircraft. However, I heard that it is unlikely that those special marking aircraft will be used because ANA and JAL both have a contract with copyright owners of the characters specifying the condition of the use of those aircraft with characters.

The longest domestic flight is Sapporo to Naha -- unfortunately now only served by Peach post COVID so no "first" class. Just so you know -- domestic F in Japan is nothing like international F -- my wife and I fly to western Japan often and never pay for F -- just not worth it....

I had the chance to fly JAL domestic first class twice on the HND-ITAMI route. They are award tickets that I upgraded for about $ 50 dollars. I would have paid the full $ 400 fare though.
Some of the best flights I have ever taken. In both cases wide body planes, massive recliner seats with full meal and bar service with two choices of meals and two flight attendants to serve eight passengers. We also get a personal greeting from the service director and access to a decent lounge in both airports.
Totally worth it! You'll never see that kind of first class service on a flight from New York to Cleveland!

JAL sets domestic F fare as 10000 yen or 12000 yen above economy fare depending on a route, some deep discounted and group/special fares (such as Japan Explorer fare) do not apply. I think it depends on individual expectations if 10000/12000 yen is worth what is offered by JAL. I think the difference between domestic F service and international F service is true everywhere, it is not just a JAL thing. I have flown JAL domestic F before. JAL domestic F service is very nice. Sure I will not choose F every time I fly JAL domestic routes with F service, but I do not think it is not worth it. I think what JAL offers in domestic F is far better than the U.S. airlines' domestic F service. Over in the U.S., many people easily spend US$ 400-500 above economy fare to sit in an F cabin. I do think JAL offers a better product in domestic F than the U.S. domestic F service, considering the cost of the service.
If OP wants to experience domestic JAL F products during the visit to Japan, looking to splurge a little, then I think it will be a good experience.
P.S.
JAL does not offer F in HND-ISG all year round. F is offered in HND-ISG this August, but no F service in Sept. and Oct. I think HND-OKA is the longest route where JAL offers F all year round.

One thing I remember about JAL domestic F. JAL domestic 767-300s did not have a power plug at each seat till 2019. Before 2019, domestic F in 767-300s had a portable charger in a seat pocket for personal devices.

P.S.
I noticed that from the picture can figure out the date of the flight I took. Dec. 30, 2018.

Longest domestic flight in Japan is Peach Aviation CTS (Chitose, Sapporo) - OKA (Naha, Okinawa) route.
MM271 CTS-OKA block time 3 hr. 35 min., MM272 OKA-CTS block time 3 hrs. 25 min.
ANA used to operate this route, but now ANA's LCC Peach operate this route.
