That building did not last long.
Only a dozen or so years from construction till demolition.

Not quite, it's the view to the east towards Cape Soya rather than north towards Russia. I couldn't see Russia when I was there, even through a long zoom lens.

Oh I see.
I was 25km across the sea from Russia on eastern Hokkaido, and could not see Russia either.

Huis Ten Bosch

I always have to check the spelling of this place.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm a huge fan.
Also, when I was there a few years ago, the Red Lobster there had some traditional American menu items not available at most other Japanese locations.

I was walking around Asakusa during Hagibis, and found this bizarre (though normal for Japan) horse sculpture in an office building entrance.

Hard to understand why this is bizarre. But hey ho...

And, my favourite, the exhausted head of one of the Godess Selene’s chariot horses from the Parthenon (British Museum)

ETA - just found out that the original Staunton endorsed chess pieces (versions of which are now the standard kind used all over the world) used this horse’s head from Selene’s chariot as the inspiration.

Was this in a temple in Miyajima? I recall a temple there had a similar room.

Yes! Daisho-in. I forgot to label it at first.

Was passed on that exact same shawl. Gives me the warm fuzzies seeing it “in the wild”. 😊
