Snake-bite protection?
 

Not sure how to go looking for these on Japanese websites.
Am looking for something a child could wear, to guard ankles and shins/calves, and not be too heavy so that she's begging to pull them off.
Have seen plenty of snakes on my Honshu rambles but in warmer months only. Turns out April IS a warmer month in Okinawa and the idea of what a habu could do to a small body makes me wince.
Can buy in Tokyo or have delivered there, I just don't know how to go looking for this product. Looking for something that would do the job and not be too sweaty (or too expensive - don't need to go high end).
Any ideas?

Finally, I think wearing closed footwear and long pants will be sufficient. Its one of the recommendations from the Marines Public Affairs Office and something I was taught growing up in Texas.

Thanks, but that's what I was looking for, help in finding snake protection wear from a Japanese source, such as Amazon JP.

Looked through a lot of the US military connected websites for Okinawa since they are in English. They just suggest "appropriate protective garments" without going into more detail.
Am currently in London, not much for kids in the UK websites - the demand isn't particularly high here.

I'm looking for protection for a child - as it's a child who would be most adversely affected by a habu bite.

Small body needs small protective covering.

If I can't find something better, I could cut something like this and strap them around her legs and ankles using elastic and Velcro.

I understand the concern but speaking as one who grew up in rattlesnake country, jeans and mid- to high-topped boots were always sufficient. Few snake bites occur to feet or legs when long pants are worn. The fangs just won't penetrate shoe leather or denim. The greater threat is to hands and arms when curious youngsters reach for something that catches their eye. Medium-high hiking shoes with long pants should be plenty of protection. Adding some form of hiking gaiters would make her almost invulnerable.

That's what I'm looking for, appropriate gaiters.
My kid hates jeans.

Am looking for that sort of thing. But kids gaiters I can buy in Japan, or will ship from Japan to Japan.
I'm leaving London next week and would need to pick them up or have them delivered to Minato Ku (preferably to a Family Mart there) by the 9th April.

My request here, to the Japan forum, is anyone know the Japanese for, or where to buy (in Japan), or have a link to a Japanese source for, reasonably priced snake protection gaiters or leg coverings for kids?

Almost perfect, it's just the fleece lining that worries me - they seem to be designed for warmth as much as protection.
