Earlier this year PG did a re-jig of their website and it's only within the past few weeks I realized that awards can only be searched/booked for 1 pax per booking. Unfortunately this negates any way for me to search for more than 1 award seat. (On the plus side they've done away with the annoying award nominee list.)

Looks like the best options are to call JL or PG directly.

Any reason why I cannot say she is my wife when making the booking? It is not very uncommon not to have the same name even as a married couple where I am from...

Also, it was estimated that the taxes for BKK-REP-BKK would be approximately USD50 pr person. Does this sound about right?

Did you have any luck with booking for your girlfriend? I'm wondering the same thing.

In the end I bought tickets for my girlfriend and myself, and redeemed for my parents and brother, but I really don't think it would be a problem.

Would this be a legal routing....?

USM-SIN (stopover) - (open jaw) BKK-REP (destination)

This itinerary is under 2,000 miles inclusive of the surface sector so I was hoping to score this for 8,000 JAL miles.

Does anybody have experience with taxes on JL award for PG?

SIN-USM return is ~168 USD in taxes on the PG website - would JL quote me similar or lower?

Taxes were $68.40 when I booked a one-way USM-SIN award on PG back in May-15.

Thanks for the data point. Was the one-way priced as 5k JAL miles?

So if I get it right, all trips have to be return with JAL and the miles required is determined by the total flown mileage?

E.g. SIN-USM-SIN is 624+624=1248mi, i.e. 8'000 miles?!

Took me a while to understand how it is structured.

I wanted to book a last minute trip to USM this weekend but the transfer from SPG to JAL is taking too long unfortunately.

Just to add to my previous post.

Surprisingly, my SPG points arrived at JAL within 1 day.

Booking was straight forward but took a long time. 8k miles return + 206 SGD in taxes. The taxes are basically the equivalent of the total cost of flying to Phuket on other carriers.
