Post 15 May 21 Entry Rules?

Has anyone seen the rules that will be put into affect for entry into Italy after 15 May published anywhere on an official source? As I understand it, on that date, Italy will open up again for travelers from the EU with either a negative PCR test or proof of vaccination, but I would love to see this somewhere official and not just in a news report.

The 'viaggiaresicuri' website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is only showing the current rules. I guess it won't be long before they publish the new ones, but it normally happens a couple of days before the existing ones are due to expire. You'd think that they'd use some modicum of common sense and allow people to plan ahead but...

I guess they are waiting for the EU meeting that should take place in the near future.
Several news agencies have reported that they would meet this week but still we have no update on that.

From Aviazionecivile, new Ministry of Health rules have been published.

They include scrapping quarantine for arrivals from countries in list "C" (EU+Israel+UK); for other countries in list D and E quarantine is lowered from 14 to 10 days; Countries in list D (e.g. USA, Japan) can enter for tourism reasons.

More 'Covid-tested' flights to be added. Beside FCO and MXP they'll be added to VCE and NAP. Destinations include JFK, ATL, BOS, ORD, LAX, DFW, MIA, PHL & IAD, plus 'all airports' in Canada (basically YYZ I guess), Japan and UAE.

US citizen/resident I'll be in athens on the 20th. hoping to hop over to italy from there but unclear with the rules. I know as shown above there's a Delta Flight that will allow US tourism.

Thanks 13901 for the rules! I will have to wait to see when they get translated. I am supposed to travel next Friday from Vienna and can't figure out if we need a test or if being fully vaccinated is enough. We've booked tests for Thursday just to be safe.

I had a brief look at the document linked upthread and there’s no mention of specifics for vaccinated travellers, so the PCR /antigen test within 48hrs of boarding still apply.

Perfect! Thank you!! I'm just happy we're actually going to make this trip!

Do check out viaggiaresicuri.it they have a questionnaire you can use to confirm what you’ve got to do. Today is the 15th so it’s still showing the current rules but I hope that tomorrow it’ll be updated to reflect the new rules. Also keep an eye out for which regions are red, orange, yellow or white.

Is it easy to get a pre-departure COVID test in Italy (particular MXP) that will be accepted by US immigration for entry?

Some nice fares to Italy now so tempted to book...

The GSD group guarantees the chance to take the COVID19 rapid antigen test directly at Malpensa airport, everyday, 04am to 04pm, Arrivals, floor 0 near the door number 4 .

You can book the rapid antigen test in the following ways:
PLEASE NOTE: you will take the rapid antigen test at the Malpensa Airport Terminal 1, even if the location listed on the APP / WebSite is Palazzo Della Salute and not Malpensa Airport.

If it is impossible to proceed with the booking, you have to show up 4 hours before the scheduled departure time.

The COVID19 rapid antigen test costs 50 euros.
