POLIGNANO A MARE- Wedding Help

Hi all,

I am supposed to be getting married in Polignano a Mare, Italy next June and have been having a horrendous time with getting it planned due to air prices. Bari is the closest airport to this location. Prices are sitting right around $1800 from Charlotte to Bari, Italy. I know that there aren't any direct flights into Bari... only CLT to Rome (with or without stop) and then Rome to Bari. I have talked to fiance about flying to Rome and driving to Bari, but he's put off by the idea because we will spend the next two weeks after our wedding training all around Italy and I guess that's putting him over the edge with amount of travel toleration.

I'm just perplexed on what to do. Might the prices drop down? Two months ago I saw tickets from CLT to Bari at $900 but we couldn't book because his family asked us to wait a few days and book with them. The prices jumped to $1700-1800 the next day. Oh, and then they decided they might not go! Don't get me started on that.. Lesson learned. But needless to say, we are ready to pull the trigger whenever, if ever the prices fall again.

Does anyone have any knowledge of airfares to this area? Is $1800 pretty standard for June (from US)? Will we have a shot at lower tickets in the coming months? Any and all advice is so greatly appreciated.

I used ITA Matrix for all of June (CLT-BRI-CLT), and I found several days with lowest price at $1275 and a few more much cheaper than $1800. Keep doing the searches for a few more days, see whether thare will be "offers" and be prepared to book as soon as you spot them. Sc..w your in-laws!

@KLouis was that a search you did just now? Or in the past? If just now, I must be doing it wrong!

Couple of things to check. First, Easyjet flies into Bari (I flew into Bari from MXP a few years ago on U2) so one option is getting to somewhere you can fly in on them. Also, check Brindisi, it's not that far from BRI

Yes, I searched as soon as I read your post. Check for calendar, starting June 1 with a return after 15 nights. I just redid it, now the cheapest is $1750 for most of the month, again AA/AZ. I other words do it every few hours, you should be able to see a cheapo again. Don't give up...

Thanks @KLouis and anyone else who commented on here. Flights from North Carolina to Polignano a mare (and really anywhere in Italy) dropped down to $500 roundtrip right before Thanksgiving and stayed at that price for a day or two. Needless to say, we booked!! I still have no idea why/how that happened, but I'm happy it did!
