IHG have confirmed

Earning targets for 2021

Gold Elite - 7,500 qualifying points or 7 nights

Platinum Elite requires 30,000 qualifying points or 30 nights

Spire Elite requires 55,000 qualifying or 55 nights

These are the same, lowered. targets as for 2020

2020 Qualifying Nights will rollover to 2021

Any 2020 qualifying nights will roll over into 2021

NOTE - both will take a little while to be reflected in accounts.

Still shows 55k in app, 75k on web for me. However, on the web the progress circle seems to be consistent with 55k relative to my YTD earnings (and yes I've already earnt enough to visually differentiate between a % of 75k and a % of 55k). Hmm.

From Head for Points

https://www.headforpoints.com/2021/0...comment-569096

1. The lower threasholds have been extended into 2021 so 55 nights / qualifying points for Spire etc

2. Any qualifying nights earned in 2020 will roll over into 2021 (may take some time to be reflected in accounts)

3. Earn 2k bonus qualifying points for every 2 nights you stay from 20th Jan - 31st March 2021 (need to register - link and code in article or via message in your IHG account)

4. Any credit card free night due to expire in 2021 will now be extended to 31st December 2021.

And note that these particular bonus points are elite qualifying points, per the email IHG just sent out. So if one should happen to stay several nights between 1/20 and 3/31, qualifying on points might be pretty easy this year.

Do IHG credit card points earned now count as qualifying points? Seems to be that way for me now.

Qualifying via the points method is generally the way it's done anyhow. Except for those who have a lot of award nights...

For me shows up the lower thresholds (both app & web), but not updated for 2019 rollover nights. Since I'll requalify on points anyway the rollover doesn't affect me.

Roll over is for 2020 nights not 2019

I'd give it a couple of weeks for them to make the IT changes to allow this to happen and filter through accounts

Hi. I'm a complete newbie to IHG. And I have a couple of doubts to be clarified. Kindly do help me here:

1) Is it mandatory to spend minimum 55 nights to get qualified for Spire Elite or can I qualify via 55000 points requirement as well? I will be having a 11 night stay next month and will be be earning more than 55000 points (through bonus points packages). Does that qualify me for Spire?
2) I am getting a valuation of 28 cents per point for the above mentioned stay. Is that a good deal?

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

It's one or the other. As long as you earn 55000 élite-qualifying points in 2021, you qualify for spire until Dec. 2022, irrespective of how many nights you stayed.

How do you calculate 28 cents per point? It seems far outside the normal range. And are you asking about good deal for acquiring points or for spending points?

Hi. This is how I calculated it:

I booked 11 nights with a bonus package of 5000 points per night for a total amount of 238.6 $.

Base Points + Bonus Points (Gold Elite) = ~2500
I'll be earning 5000 points per night = 11*5000 = 55000
Once I earn 55000 elite points, I'll hit Spire status. I'll opt for 25000 points as benefit.
So, in total, I earn 2500+55000+25000 = 82500 points

This almost calculates to 28 cents per point.

Let me know in case anything is wrong with my calculation.

Some of those bonus points will not count towards elite status, such as the % for rate paid. Not sure about the package bonus points, but I don't think those count either.
