I have not stayed at this hotel yet, but I did email them recently asking if it's possible to open the windows in the room for fresh air. They replied and told me that YES, you CAN open them.
Most other hotels in Osaka have sealed windows, so it's nice to find a hotel that has this option.
Just wanted to post this info here, in case anyone finds it useful.

Got the chance to stay here recently and was not impressed at all. If you want to be in the middle of the Dotonbori area this is a very good location and you will be very spoilt for choice in terms of eating. Hundreds (possibly thousands) of restaurants in the nearby area...but I was disappointed with the hotel compared to much better Holiday Inns in Asia.
Small boring rooms with even smaller bathrooms (with a strange large window and window blind by the bathtub). Practically zero facilities in the hotel - no lounge, no business centre, no gym, no coin laundry, etc - nothing except for the hotel restaurant which is open all night until 4am in the morning. Also, a lot of taxis can't go right to the entrance cause it's down some small 1 way streets, so they will drop you off at the nearest large road and you will have to walk. Only plus side...rooms do have a safe and fridge which is good...and windows CAN be opened for fresh air at this property (however they open onto a fire escape which connects all rooms on the same floor so not the best for safety at night).
Quite high nightly rates simply due to the dotonbori location. The high rate of 40,000 IHG points they want per night are wasted here, unless you really want this location. You can get much more for your money or points if you stay elsewhere.
The ibis styles hotel is a few buildings down on the exact same road and has cheaper prices, a few more faciltities in the hotel, and better benefits for platinum members.

Thank you for your post.
I am still deciding between the ibis styles and hi...
The rooms at ibis are 20% smaller, also people seem to complain about noise much more often at ibis than at HI. Price for my dates are only 10% different.
Any other suggestions for dontonburi ?
We wanna be close to the action.
