Bokerto!

And here the pictures of the unrenovated junior suite, the views are nice but it feels like the interior came straight from noach's ark

Found the club's service flow and menu.
And also here a picture of the drinks cabinet in the club lounge on level 24. It is normally locked and sealed but will be opened exactly just in time for happy hour. During shabbat i think it remains closed.

and for inquisitive minds that wish to know, the routes that service the closest bus stop (next to the hotel parking) - at the seafront, at the park and at Carmel market are many more busstops.

I'm booked into a King Club Room here for 8th - 10th May i.e. Friday to Sunday. I sent them an email asking if there were any Shabbat service limitations and they said "There are no Shabbat service limitations at our hotel". However having read this thread and a number of reviews I don't think that's correct. I'm wondering if it's best to change my booking to a classic room (which will get upgraded anyway) and save the circa $200 per night room rate difference (or book another hotel!).

Does anyone have a full run down of how the Shabbat service differs from a normal weekday?

On shabbat the only changes that i've noticed where:
- no cappucino or hot milk / only instant coffee
- separate shabbat food items
The hotel did function as usual.

I'm not sure a classic room would be upgraded to a Club room including club access.

Did you book directly or through FHR?

Upgrade chain IC DAVID TELAVIV

For ambassadors the upgrade is cat + 1 and for royal ambassadors the upgrade is cat + 2

the room types at IC David TLV are in order of catagory:
1 classic room = unrenovated
2 terrace room= (un)renovated?
3 executive room = renovated ------With Executive lounge access lvl 3
4 club room = renovated -------------With Club lounge access lvl 24
-----------------
5 corner suite (old category: junior suite) = unrenovated --With Executive lounge access lvl 3
6 jaffa suite = renovated --------------------------------------------------With Club lounge access lvl 24
7 deluxe suite = (un)renovated? - saw this suite type on IHG app only / not on website
8 mediterranean suite = renovated-------------------------------------With Club lounge access lvl 24
9 royal suite = renovated--------------------------------------------------With Club lounge access lvl 24

please note that when the hotel upgrades into executive or club room they won't give lounge access unless you are royal ambassador or pay the dependent lounge upsell

You are correct, I wasn't expecting club access. However if the club lounge won't cook breakfast to order (eggs, etc.) or have the usual food selection / canapes in the evening I might as well use the money I save to go outside the hotel. If I go "cheap" and book a classic room I think the best outcome would be an upgrade to a room with a terrace (which seem to get better reviews than the supposedly better executive rooms). They sometimes upgrade me two (or more levels) which I would have to reject if I want a terrace!

I have to say, despite the Shabbat restrictions, you won't go hungry as they have numerous alternatives. The only think missing is the barista (Arik is fantastic, but he's allowed a day off) and the coffee machines. I would have breakfast in Jaffa Court vs. the lounge anyway, and then the rest of the day there's plenty of food in the lounge.

I would definitely take a renovated high floor room (arguably the exec rooms are better than the club rooms as they were done more recently) - it's worth it for the bathrooms alone.

Hi Irons80 Sorry, just to be clear, are you saying that it's not possible at all to get even an espresso at the hotel (both in the Lounge and at the Jaffa Court) during Shabbat? I understand the barista will not work, but maybe they have some machine that can be used at least for that day?

The only coffee that's served in the lounges and restaurants is filter (from a jug)
You may be able to get one at the cigar bar (AFAIK Shabbat rules don't apply there but I am not 100% sure)

TLV - Airport transfer & Priority VIP arrival / departure service

Precovid when i travelled to Israel, i've made use of the assistance of the IC David congierge. They managed to arrange a smooth arrival and departure for us. This worked well in both my experiences flying in and out on LY (Ansterdam) and LX (Zürich). I find it well worth the money, we made use of the seperate immigration (crew) line and courteous security check. Our escorts always helped in carrying our luggage for us. The car drive upon arrival from the plane feels a bit like LH first.

I digged through my archive and these were the prices 2018/2019 precovid.

Description of the services: (Room charge including exchange rates differences, prices quoted are valid for each way,During nights, weekends or holidays the rate is 30$U.S.dollars extra)

drive(this will save him the long walk at the airport) to passport
control to pass with no queues through passport control, custom control

will bring him straight to the hotel.
