What is your Priority Club status?

Gold

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Double booked and double received

How are the rooms?

Nice and newer

How is the exec. lounge?

No executive lounge that I’m aware of

What was good and what was bad?

Good location, near a mall and a park, near the subway, easy access to Manhattan, fairly easy access to LGA. Some might find the neighborhood sketchy.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Paid with points 20k per night. I think that is a good value in NYC. If paying cash there’s probably better values.

HUALUXE Haikou Seaview

What is your Priority Club status?
Gold Elite

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked and received standard at negotiated event rate, coincidentally at a higher floor than my colleagues.

How are the rooms?
- New, comfortable and has the contemporary Chinese style of decorations; spacious and well equipped
- Very good complementary whole-leave tea and HUALUXE tea set

How is the exec. lounge?
No access, but it has balcony and seaview.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Given drinks coupon for 2 (for soft drinks, juice, coffee or some alcohol at lobby bar) upon remarking my Gold # at checkin
- Breakfast has some local Hainan delicacies as well as many Western and Chinese options
- An abundant supply of free bottled water - always had 4x500ml stocked per cleanup; Minibar is not expensive either with a can of coke modestly priced at 8CNY
- Room cleaner neatly folded all my loosely placed clothes every time (or is it just I'm not used to luxury hotels?)
Meh:
- Outdoor pool is not heated and the sand platform at the shore (and not actually a beach) is a bit awkward.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Looks like a decent option for the district.

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Elite

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, third time in this hotel.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room, received King Bed Longstay Suite Nonsmoking. I'm suspecting I'm getting this treatment due to just getting Spire status.
How are the rooms?
Excellent room: freshly renovated, good bed, silent A/C, good shower and enough heating in the room.
How is the exec. lounge?
Decent food, not that many alcoholic beverage options. Nice and relaxing atmosphere. EDIT: Front desk mentioned at the beginning that now they are offering for Spire status as a welcome gift exec. lounge access, is this a new thing?
What was good and what was bad?
Overall I really like this hotel for business trips, sometimes it's bit overly priced. Parking hall is old fashioned and new cars will have a tight fit. Staff is helpful and know what they are doing.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Didn't book with points. I will definitely return.

ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo (ex-ANA Hotel Sapporo)

ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo (ex-ANA Hotel Sapporo)

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Could be better.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest, received One Double Bed Comfort Room on 16th Floor.

How are the rooms?
21sqm. Renovated in 2017. But indeed cramp. Bathroom is just refurbish level.

Video of One Double Bed Room:

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A
This hotel doesn’t have exec. lounge.

How was the mini-bar?
No mini-bar. Only small, very small empty refrigerator.

What was your welcome gift?
Pound cake and chocolate.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
No.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
None. If this hotel were a Holiday Inn, I would highly recommended.
But unfortunately, this hotel is a Crowne Plaza.
This hotel doesn’t meet Crowne Plaza’s global standard.

Bad
No mini-bar
Far from Susukino night life area.

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
For paid stay, Yes. But if rate is lower than ANA Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino.
For point stay, No. (this hotel required 45000pts! Really no value!)

Holiday Inn : Downtown Beijing

What is your Priority Club status?
Gold Elite

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked "Holiday Inn Deluxe Room" (king only) and requested twin; received 2 single beds standard, apparently missing an iPod dock from their description.
However my non-member fellow booked this "2 single beds standard" and received corner room that is a bit larger and has full-length mirror plus iPod dock (probably Superior)... Such is life.

How are the rooms?
- Classic (aka a bit dated) but comfortable, quite spacious
- View is not great as the hotel is not tall; my room is inward-facing, but even my colleague's outward-facing room doesn't have much view
- Bedside shelf-like table is tilted down by 5 degrees however it's still okay to put things on
- Standard (and boring) Holiday Inn bathroom amenities; shower is fine

How is the exec. lounge?
No access

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Rooms were given early at 12nn without pre-request
- Gold member recognition with a small cut fruit box handed at check-in, and drinks voucher for 3 of us including beer and house wine
- Breakfast is quite nice (and if not pre-booked, 80cny/person at checkin is not bad)
- Staff is friendly
- Good location at 2nd Ring Road and close to metro
Meh:
- I just find myself prefer the "smarter" HIX equipment and feel... And this hotel is in every bit very classic Holiday Inn, hmm...

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good location and price as a Holiday Inn. I may return mainly for its location.

Holiday Inn Watford Junction

Holiday Inn Watford Junction UK

Stayed January 2019

What is your Priority Club status?

Spire Elite.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a standard and upgraded to King. Given a couple of drinks vouchers as well in lieu of extra points.

How are the rooms?

Spotlessly clean. It seemed to have been very recently refurbished. Very comfortable King-Sized Bed. Overall my room was huge and very well appointed. Usual HI unguents in the bathroom. One of them new-fangled coffee pod machines in the room, which once I sussed it out, made a decent coffee. For technophobes there is a kettle and instant coffee/tea try in the room as well.

How is the exec. lounge?

There isn’t an executive lounge at this hotel.

What was good and what was bad?

The hotel is just a minutes walk from Watford Junction Railway Station, so handily located if using the train.

The hotel car park costs £6.00 per night and is ‘policed’ by ‘Parking Eye’. Make sure you type the correct vehicle registration into the LCD pad at reception as some people in front of me at reception had obviously had a previous situation where they had tapped in the wrong registration number and got a £100 bill from Parking Eye.

Has a large hotel lounge/bar/restaurant with an outside eating area in summer.

Small weight training gym on the first floor.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Decent value and yes I would return. (I have previously stayed at the HiX located on the other side of Watford Junction and this hotel knocks the spots off the HiX).

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Standard, upgraded to a suite

How are the rooms?
Very nice. Mine seemed to have been recently upgraded. Clean, comfortable and well appointed with no signs of wear.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not visit

What was good and what was bad?
Good: room was enormous, clean and comfortable. Location is fantastic with easy connections to everything and walkable to many points of interest.

Bad: We only got one coffee capsule for the coffee machine, so my partner and I had to duel over who got the one cup of coffee. (This is really, really minor.) Internet was a little glitchy at times, not solid enough for wifi calling.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?

OMG yes! I can't believe they're letting rooms here go so cheap. The room was definitely upscale for the brand, based on my experiences with them elsewhere in Europe.

Would you return?
In a hot minute!

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Elite

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard room on points, received a small upgrade to a larger room with a couch.

How are the rooms?
-Typical

How is the exec. lounge?
No access

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- The gym was big and had a lot of equipment, and the pool was also large and had a lot of equipment like boards, noodles, fins etc.
-Given 4pm check out and RMB60 food voucher for Spire Elite
-Close to subway station, restaurants, and shopping outlets. Direct line from airport in 15 mins.

Meh:
- The spa looked really sketchy.
-The menu from which one can order the free welcome drink is extremely limited (like a couple types of juices/soft drinks, and 1 wine/beer).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Was a great deal on points but sadly has risen in price with the recent devaluation.

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked superior (standard) received deluxe suite.

How are the rooms?
Room was OK.

How is the exec. lounge?
Lounge is very good. Great selection of drinks and snacks. Breakfast available in the lounge or in the restaurant.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Lounge was very good and breakfast was great.

Bad: Apartment building construction is nearby, so there is construction noise and dust.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?

Stayed using PB promo (15k points) so points value was good. They do not give complimentary club lounge access for Elite members. Lounge access must be bought separately.

Would you return?
Maybe when construction nearby is finished.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked the Standard Room Nonsmoking, got a 2 Bed Twin Skyline Riverview Room

How are the rooms?

The views are exceptional. The beds are comfortable. The room was a little smaller than I expected.

How is the exec. lounge?

Did not experience.

What was good and what was bad?

Great location, great views. They got us into our room extremely early (before 10am, I think), which we greatly appreciated. Friendly staff. My only complaint was there was a glass door between the bathroom and the rest of the room. It was frosted but still a bit awkward when you're not in the room alone!

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

We booked a ridiculously cheap rate and got a significant upgrade. I'd argue it's the best location of the IHG properties in the CBD, certainly in the summer when you can walk along the river and enjoy the sun. I'd absolutely return.

I don't know about experience, but just got a email from IHG stating that I've reached Gold Elite-status. Which is sort of funny because for the past year, I only have one 3 night stay worth of some 6000 points.
Maybe they have a hidden status match campaign going on

No that I would know of such and the change happened also quite randomly in middle-Feb. Well, don't complain as such and Gold doesnt really bring anything worth expecting so really no hard done on realizing at the hotel that status isn't valid.

Spire Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No. Fourth time here and certainly the last.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked 1 King Bed Nonsmoking received the same, although next to the housekeeping closet on the 2nd floor over looking the parking lot
Asked about upgrade availability but the hotel was sold out.

How are the rooms?
Old, tired and crowded with furniture far too big to the room space available..

How is the exec. lounge?
There isn't one.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Location. Bookable with points.
Bad: 60k per night + $43 "destination fee" per night This covers valet parking, two bottles of water in the room, and the hotel amenities. AC is fighting a losing battle against the heat. Even with all the lights on the room is very dark, and made worse by the dark brown carpet and paint scheme.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Folks are paying $450 a night here which makes the 60,000 points seem almost reasonable. But in truth, both far exceed what this place is worth.
