Were you happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a King bed superior plaza view got an suite with club access.

How are the rooms?

Quite good. Living room with a sofa and a working area, bed room, small bathroom and another relatively big bathroom with separate shower and bathtube. Both rooms had ~42" flat screen tv and Bose audio system in the bedroom.

How is the Exec. lounge?

Located on 46th floor it offers good views. Friendly staff. Ok food and drinks, but nothing special

What was good/bad?

Good:

Good location, nice room and very cheap. Welcome gift was an USB hub. Don't know if I need that but at least something different than the usual chopsticks I got in other IC properties in China.

Bad:

Nothing really

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Bargain. Around 50EUR0+tax/night. Will stay here again if return to Dalian

My only complain was that I've been recently upgraded to RA, but I had make an advanced booking before the upgrading. Didn't inform the hotel in advance so once I check out they we're asking me to pay for the minibar bill as they didn't have the information I had been upgraded. Should have follow the instructions found in FlyerTalk for even better upgrade.

After they checked, the bill was omitted.

Quite good and not small. My room was updated and fresh.

How is the Exec. lounge?
Ok food and drinks, but nothing special.Nice view of the City

What was good/bad?

Good:
Good location in a quiet area near central bank and other financial institutions and near Emirates Palace
Bad:

Nothing really

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?Yes
Service is excellent;room rates in off season are decent about $175PN. I would expect rates climb very high at busy times.

IC Hua Hin

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Pool Terrace room and was offered an Oceanview Suite but politely declined it due to road noise. Pool Terrace room was not available so I accepted an Ocean View Deluxe with a reduced room rate.

How are the rooms?
Excellent. Big, clean, well equipped and quiet.

How is the Exec. lounge?
There isn't one.

What was good/bad?
Good:
Brand new, excellent staff, classy restaurants. High quality finishings, right down to the lavatory seat & lid which close silently due to the clever design.

I love the gentle light around the ceiling fan enclove which glows orange due to the colour of the wood and varnish.

Bad:
If you like shops/restaurants on your doorstep do not stay here, choose the city center Hilton.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good and yes.

Misc comments
After an extended stay and paying a $1000+ bill I was only asked one question during check out. " Have you taken any items from your mini bar today?" A sour end to a very enjoyable stay.

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

How long was your stay?
4 nights, 3 B&B and 1 using a weekend cert.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked an Executive Deluxe and was offered a corner suite or a normal room with club access (took the club access).

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes, A French Hermes Eau D'Orange Verte Cologne, Shampoo & Shower gel set. A bottle of red wine, fresh fruit every day and a luxury lavender face mask.

How are the rooms?
Already well documented here, the rooms are spacious and recently benefited from a soft refurb.

How is the Exec. lounge?
Popular. The breakfast is excellent, afternoon tea enjoyable and evening hot snacks/cocktails very generous.

What was good/bad?
Good:
Small things always make a difference, housekeepers carry a bean bag which is placed inside door frames to stop unnecessary noise.

After a two and half hour drive from IC Hua Hin we arrived around 9am, we were immediately escorted to the club lounge and were delighted to be offered breakfast. Treatment like this ensures our custom will return .

I was thankful to be granted club access on the night that I used my Weekend Stay Certificate.

Bad:
TV movies have been terminated, also it's no longer possible to check ones folio using the TV.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good and yes.

Misc comments
I am not keen on the new position of the Concierge desk. They have been pushed into a corner away from the main reception.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No, definitely not.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room on reward points, received an Executive Suite City View, until it was flooded, so was then moved to a Kind Bed City View.

How are the rooms?
Alright when they don't have a leak. Old fashioned decor and antiques mixed with flat screen televisions, an iPod dock, a huge amplifier on the floor next to the TV and a fancy coffee machine with no instructions.

RA amenity was a fridge magnet.

How is the exec. lounge?
There isn't one at this property although I did see a lounge called Amstel Club on the ground floor just further down from the Concierge

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
The size of the suite and even the room I had to move to was spacious with very high ceilings.
Breakfast - but only if you don't have to pay for it.

Bad:
Where do I start, almost everything (see the link to my thread below) the mini-bar policy change and in addition I noticed they don't even provide a complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom. For the second room I had, there were lots of cigarette butts on the ledge outside the window where previous guests have obviously been smoking. If I can see this why can't the cleaning staff!

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No and No.

See my thread for the full story of this very bad stay.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 2 room Junior Suite on the F&F in the renovated west wing, received that (had the nipper with me so only rooms that you can have 3 people in, with complimentary club access.

How are the rooms?
Very nicely done, sofa in the lounge unfolds for the second bed, decorated well

Ra present was pastry cutters in the shape of Berlin walk/do not walk signs.

How is the exec. lounge?
Great as usual, however they closed it for 2 days for new carpets (the hotel was very quite as it was just before Christmas). They relocated downstairs and tried their best but it was a little inconvenient as had to use the business centre for internet.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
The club (when open) and staff as usual. Nice room. We had an extended stay due to the weather related travel problems in the UK which was fine as we like the hotel and like the city very much, they held the F&F rate as well which they did not have to do. They also helped to get me flights rearranged.

Bad:
Club closure

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes already booked

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked award night "standard room", got double upgrade to executive studio with fireplace.

How are the rooms?
Nice. Prefer suites, though. But for award, great upgrade.
Fireplace is very nice during the wintertimes...

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Upgrade
Staff; great welcome by the FO manager, who accompanied us to our room
Spa/ Sauna area was very quiet during the day, not overcrowded as it sometimes is.
Welcome present was a bottle of Austrian red wine this time, which was actually quite drinkable.

Bad:
Food prices remain a rip-off.
Although cocktails at the bar are cheap for a hotel, whiskeys are hideously expensive. For example, the price of a 4 cl glass of Black Bush is about the same as the retail price of a bottle.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, already booked (and preupgraded to a penthouse suite )

IC Bali

IC Bali over new year's

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
After the reports of uncertain upgrades at the new IC Hua Hin, we decided to change our plans and go to Bali instead.
Requested room availability at the hotel since the hotel was sold out.
Was immediately offered a Balinese Suite at a fairly acceptable rate and got upgraded to a Jimbaran Suite.

How are the rooms?
Awesome! Had a ground floor suite, so we could access the club pool from our terrace.
Little kitchenette area
Wonderful terrace, perfect for having breakfast there.
Very spacious bathroom

Club lounge?
Great as usual
Staff wonderful
Food spread could have been bigger
Staff remembered our names and room number, we were never asked again after the first day

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Room availability
Hotel was did not appear overcrowded although sold out
No mandatory new year's eve dinner etc. but fantastic events
Daily present on each bed, i.e. scarf for Mrs., balinese cane sugar for me etc.
Food at the Italian restaurant. First time for us going there. Expensive, but great food, for some change after a couple of weeks in Asia

Bad:
Nothing really

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes.

IC Bangkok

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Generally, yes.
Note: I cancelled all stays at this IC after the minibar (and other) reports here on FT and opted for another hotel. This stay was on adv purchase, so we "had" to go there for one night.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked club room, got club room but a lower rate.

How are the rooms?
Large rooms with huge bathroom.
Minibar with large bottles that are, by the way, included for RAs...

Club Lounge?
Only had breakfast there, impressive spread, great staff.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Staff
Pool
"In-room-minibar" is included for RA, had this confirmed by manager on duty (who reconfirmed with his superior). So I enjoyed the Black Label...

Bad (not really):
Upgraded room not ready at check-in at 1 pm. After the flight from Bali in Y, we just wanted a room so we had them give us any available. Due to early departure the next day, we kept the room and did not change it. Rate was lowered by roughly 1,500 THB.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Probably. Still, I think there are better deals in BKK than the IC...

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes. Very much so.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked king city view for $199/night on 72 hour sale rate, and upgraded to high floor king city view with club access.

How are the rooms?
The room was very nice, it was a decent size for a standard room, and the room we had had no bath and a double shower, with 3 shower heads

Club Lounge?
AMAZING view, nice food, great attentive staff.
The scrambled eggs where horrible in the breakfast buffet, tasting very much like powered eggs, and the bacon was VERY fatty. But apart from that all other food was delicious.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

Club Staff - Special mention to Dario
Moet in the minibar.
Location was great.
Nice bathroom for a non suite.

Bad:
The club was very busy on saturday night (but perfect at all other times).

No letter outlining club privileges, no letter outlining RA privileges.

No mention of RA gift - wine/1000 pc points/ $10 voucher - Only because i'd seen others mention the choice of gifts did i know it existed, because the free water and apples came but no card giving me a choice of gifts. So on check out i mentioned recieving nothing but mentioned i'd heard what he gifts where and said i'd just take the $10 off drinks i'd had after hours in the club - Big fuss was made and about 5 phone calls where made to ok this because i didn't have the voucher.

I hate having to argue or even having to ask for RA privileges in general, but especially in when travelling with my partner. So this made for a quite a poor end to an otherwise fantastic stay.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
At $199 a night it was great value, however if i returned i'd probably splurge on one of the suites or a room with a harbour view.

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Fairly happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest room, received Club floor split-level room (not sure if classed as suite).

How are the rooms?
Fairly old-fashioned interior with views of car park and surrounding area - you don't stay for the views! Bathrooms seemed very dated.

How is the exec. lounge?
It was closed.

What was good/bad?
Good: upgrade to club floor. Great fruit bowl welcome gift - large and good selection of fruit.
Bad: the hotel had many facilities closed, including the club lounge. The decor was disappointing, and I almost wish I'd put my stop-over in another city, such as Houston - this was a trip between San Fran and Louisiana. Reception staff were generally great, though 1 could have been more helpful.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
It was almost OK, but the club lounge would have delivered a greater satisfaction level - the price was just about OK. Points didn't post, as it was viewed as an 'overlapping' stay, from IC San Fran: but will chase this up, as it wasn't. May return, but lounge needs to be opened to make it more worthwhile.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Two Double Bed Premier Room on Pointbreaks. Was upgraded online to Studio Suite, asked for 2 bed-room at check-in and was given 1 Bedroom Suite with 2 beds.

How are the rooms?
Separate living and dining area, two WC.

Club Lounge?
Evening coctail was included in the benefit for all occupants, but berakfast is only given for 1 person. The check-in staff tried to sell me additional buffet breakfast at the Club Lounge for USD15++/pax. I politely declined.

This is very unusual offer that I have encountered at IC hotels, but porbably a fair one as they have bent their back by throwing in all the benefits that is not suppose to be given on reward night.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Room upgrade and all RA benefits including the complimentary minibar and club lounge access.
Bad:
Have to asked for the RA gift (local souvenir) otherwise they seemed to keep forgetting the delivery.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes.
I have reserved several rooms for Chinese New Year and my mother's birthday bash and I could see that every rooms had been upgraded online.
If you need one, I am happy to give the private email of the Guest Relation Manager that had been very accommodating during my stay.

@spunk_tokyo: Great to see that the IC Jakarta honors all RA benefits on pointbreak stays. I have a stay there coming up this weekend so I'm looking forward to a great time there. For me, $15 for breakfast is pretty decent considering all RA benefits are honored!

Did not use the facility.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good: Very friendly staff. Guest relation Managers always in touch. Checkin at Club floor, fresh fruits everyday, lots of still and sparkling water, mini bar replenished daily. This is a 'template' for how ICs should be run.
Probably a practice run for the World Cup event.;
Bad:
Can't think of any. Check-in process could be faster.
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Absolutely.
Absolutely for a longer stay with family.
