Flash Sale replacing last minute?

Cannot help but think the current flash sale is replacing the last minute rewards idea, I like it, better window for bookings rather than it being next weekend!

+1, and I don't think and hope it doesn't replace LMR.

I think this is the response from IHG to other chains holding flash sales?

Hi Everyone -

I'm excited to tell you about a new program that we're pilot-testing for the next several weeks! We're announcing it here first to give Priority Club Connect members the opportunity to participate first!

The new program is our new One Day Sale which will allow you to book reward nights starting at 50% off the normal price, and can go as high as 75% off. The sale includes 12 properties from around the world, with varying stay windows by property and are bookable through Mid-April. The one day sale begins on Thursday's at 12am EST and will continue for 24 hours.

To book/learn more, click here.

**Just to clarify, this program is not replacing our beloved Point Breaks!

Happy Travels!

But as fas as I notice, the sales on other chains like Hyatt (quite regularly 48 hours sales) and the recent one at Hilton as well as Starpicks or beatthetimer over at SPG are rate sales, meaning you have to buy a room using cash and therefore earning points (sometimes a cheap way to buy hotel nights).

IHG is "selling" awards nights. I am not sure, if this will be a "response" - it is in my eyes not an apples to apples comparison but a different approach. I would prefer a real rate sale and not this kind of award sale.

Yes, you are right. This is an sale of awards. Well, more choices are definitely welcomed..

Not Replacing Last Minute Reward Nights

Hi Everyone -
Happy to see that you guys have taken a look at our new pilot program "One Day Sale".

I wanted to let you know that this program will not be replacing any of our existing programs including Last Minute Reward Nights, or Point Breaks.

Carolyn

lrb76 Feb 23, 2012 11:12 am

That's good news.

Carolyn - do you know what happened to the 'in hotel awards' section on priority club, as it has disappeared. There was an option to order a voucher for either breakfast (5000 points) dinner (10000) or an in house movie (4000). Are there any plans to reinstate them? Thank you.

No, at this time we don't have any plans to reinstate the In-Hotel Rewards program due to lack of use.

Is this one-day sale program going to occur often on a regular basis? Or at least include a larger number of properties being offered? They offered some good deals, but 12 properties out of how many thousands? However, my more important quesion is this: Does Pointsbreaks remain??? I love that one more than any other... in any program!!

Somebody had better tell Barclays who are still offering Full Hotel Breakfast for 5,000 PC points as part of their blurb for the UK Black Visa card.

Oh yes, also a night in any Staybridge Suites for 20,000 points :D, a night in any Hotel Indigo for 25,000 points :D and a night at the IC London for 40,000 points. :D

Platinum members didn't even get warning of this new site/deal? Grrrrreat. :(

myperks Feb 29, 2012 11:46 pm

new group of hotels up...
looks good if you can use it...

is there a new list every week?

jpdx Feb 29, 2012 11:55 pm

I'm really liking this! A new list every week! IC Coex Seoul at 60% off is a steal!

Amyrlin Mar 1, 2012 2:56 am

Two for the UK, that is good. Ayslebury and Sandy, however, Sandy is an extremely poor HI and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

It is nice to see a couple of CP's find their way onto the list as well

This is a program that we're testing out right now, so far we've messaged this via twitter, facebook, and priority club connect.

Yes, during the pilot period there will be a new list every week. If the program continues into full launch it will be weekly as well.

Carolyn

aussielori Mar 1, 2012 6:52 pm

I think they are great but a few more in Australia please.:D

benzemalyonnais Mar 1, 2012 9:14 pm

Much better than last minute because of the 2-month availability period....just one property needs to be good for a quick holiday

Me2Earth Mar 2, 2012 5:40 am

Why do I only see 3 hotels on the list , Mexico, Florida and Vancouver?

Remember, the deals go live at Midnight EST on Thursday and end at 11:59 p.m. EST the same day.

Thanks for clarifying.

Is 'Midnight EST Thursday' 23:59 or 00:01? (I see you mention 11:59 p.m. for expiry. ^ At least no 12 a.m. or 12 p.m. there (whatever they are).)

I guess the rest are sold out - like PB, IHG removes the hotel from the list once it's sold out.

I hope there will be some properties at Monterey area next week.

Chinatrvl Mar 7, 2012 10:02 pm

New list is up, only few nice properties like CP Shanghai, Toronto Airport, IC Dubai Residence Suites, HI Mai Khao

I am not sure why that InterContinental Residentia Suites Dubai Financial Center is on that list. The property has never had any paid/award room availability when I have checked. Just went through ten different dates and nothing using cash or points.

azepine00 Mar 7, 2012 11:58 pm

i don't see any - "check back later" message comes up along with three old properties

myperks Mar 8, 2012 12:05 am

looks like the validity of each list is 2-months! ^^^

Same here, why is it telling me that this week's sale is over when others can see the list? Am I using the wrong link or something? http://www.priorityclub.com/onedaysale

I don't see any new ones either.

Wonder if there's a problem with the site (No surprise if there is :td:)

Same link works here. Clearing cookings and temp files maybe helps?

Oh, and nice to see you back in this forum!

link worked - right now I booked a deluxe room at phuket in april for 5.000 points/night!

Thanks Chinatrvl, it's good to be back! Have been inactive for the longest time due to my hectic travelling schedule over the last year. :)

Like Blindman, I once was blind but now can see... The page is now showing up for me. I did clear the cookies and the cache and even used 3 different browsers so it appears to be a problem with the site. Booked myself a nice weekend trip to Phuket like schauschun! :D

Someone messaged me that this particular property requires 5 day minimum stay.

Chinatrvl Mar 14, 2012 10:24 pm

New list is out, meagre like last week's: CP Okinawa and Curitiba, Indigo Liverpool, IC Cleveland.

lsed Mar 15, 2012 3:55 am

Seems from last week's listings they increased the booking window.

But the offerings seem rather lackluster.

Anyone knows if we can call in the change the booking dates after the sale is over?
