Transitting in LAX
Sorry if this is a misplaced question. I arrive at LAX on Qantas. I depart on Air Canada. Both flights business class on the same round-the-world ticket. I have 4 hours between the two flights. A couple of questions... will I have to stand in a huge immigration queue and clear immigration on arrival? Will I have to collect my luggage? How far is it between terminal 2 (arrival) and 6 (departure) and can it be done air-side?
It's been 10+ years since I flew through LAX and it was a horrible experience last time. Just trying to plan!

Yes you will need to collect your bag, if its been tagged to the next onward flight then once you clear immigration, collect your bags and go past customs, transfers will be clearly shown. As you are arriving at TBIT once you exit the bag drop area the should point you to the transfers security which I've found very quick. This brings you back upstairs Airside where you can following the walkway/tunnels to your desired terminal. Follow the signs https://www.flylax.com/inter-terminal-connections

They didn't (send me through transfer security and upstairs). They told me to walk outside to T6, which I did. After I went through T6 security and into the Maple Lounge, they told me that the Star Alliance lounge in TBIT is much better (and has showers, which I really needed!) and she gave me directions BACK to TBIT through a tunnel on the first level and then a bridge on level 4 (all airside) which was much more interesting than the outdoor transfer and involved no security at all. So overall I plodded quite a lot around LAX! Very odd that I could not go airside the first time though! Some guy just said that "due to the construction works" it was not possible. Which was clearly a load of crap!
