SAS Airlines Refund Delay

I have been waiting 2 months for a refund from SAS airlines for an international flight from Newark they cancelled in March. I immediately requested a refund and was told it would take 2-3 weeks. After 3 weeks, I was told it could be another 2 weeks. At the end of April I was told they are processing refunds for March 12 and mine should be processed in another week or so. Now all they can tell me it is in the queue and there is no one I can talk to to above a customer service rep at the airline. Last week, I registered a complaint with the U.S Department of Transportation but to date have not received any acknowledgement of receipt my complaint. I would appreciate knowing if anyone else is having or had an issue with getting a refund from SAS airlines in the last few months and if there is any other action I could take.

Institute a chargeback via your CC company would be a reasonable next step.

I believe many/most posters in this forum have experienced at least delay if not extreme delay with refunds. Your experience is no exception I'm afraid. My advice to you, be patient rather than calling SAS every second week and getting frustrated - the refund will be processed eventually, most likely within 2-3 months when the pandemic is over.

If the pandemic will not end until a vaccine is developed this would mean waiting another year or more. I think that is unreasonable.

Thanks for the suggestion

Sorry, if my initial reply was unclear. I didn't mean 2-3 months after the pandemic is over. I mean within 2-3 months from today as by then the pandemic has weakened in most developed countries and flights are back in operation.

Rest assured that it will not take a year or two before commercial flights are back in operation and airlines have started processing refunds.
