How do I get a refund?

Lufthansa have cancelled my flights to Italy (Sardinia). The flights were booked for a specific reason with fixed dates. I have been offered the chance to rebook but have no need/desire to go to Sardinia later this year. They are refusing to refund my ticket. Advice gratefully received.

Have you checked with your travel insurance?

If the flights are cancelled and don't operate, then Lufthansa should refund your money.

If they continue to insist on "no refund" then a credit card chargeback should do the trick.

If the flights operate but you don't want to travel, then you're into the realm of travel insurance or taking whatever voucher LH offers.

Have you ever tried the chargeback option?
How did it work? Thank you for the information

You call the card company and tell them you’d like to charge back a certain transaction.

I haven't for a flight, but for a car rental I was told to try and deal with the company first.

Europe isn't quite like the US, where you just call the credit card company and dispute just about anything, and it does through quickly because that's cheaper for all involved than actually investigating.

Just to add more colour, you call the card company and you say that you are disputing the transaction. The airline cancelled your flight but, after repeated attempts to discuss the matter, the airline still refuses to process a refund.
