Dear All,

At the end of March or May I want to fly 4 to 5 days of luxury from AMS. There are choices, but also the pressure of, of course, KLM or BA status. My question is the following:
Do you have great experiences with a first-class product or are the business products of Emirates and Quatar always much better than possibly firstclass Air France or BA? (BA has a firstclass offer for 2500 euros in the coming period, while the Asia companies for firstclass ask for a 4000 account to Asia. Business I come with 1700 euros at Emirates also far. (Also nice with car service?)
What is your advice in this?
Unfortunately, I hardly see a Skyteam first class anymore

AF first class, particularly on the 77W, is well favored. The ground service with a connection makes transiting at CDG actually a pleasure vs the normal avoiding at all costs. The A380 F hard product is showing its age but still you get a solid soft product.
Qatar J is rather nice particularly on the 787, A380 or A350.
EK's J product varies by plane. On their 777s is generally 2x3x2 which isn't preferred for more solo travelers. On the 2 class A380 it's 2x4x2 with backward & forward facing seats. On the 3 class A390 the J product is 1x2x1 which I believe is the afternoon EK flights from AMS. Complimentary limo is a nice bonus but go product over perk. EK uses the Aspire Lounge at AMS instead of a proper EK lounge.

BA F class is not worth it in my opinion. Staff are polite & professional but the product doesn't hold up compared to others.

AF First is far above BA First. BA First is a good business class product. BA Business class is a poor business class product.

.......and on BA even with a paid business class ticket, you must have BA elite status to reserve seats in advance without paying (typically over $100 per longhaul segment). Moreover, even if you pay for seats, the better seats are blocked for elites. [On FT, this is called theoretical seating and there's a big thread which explains it in the BA forum.]
