Changing Points Earning Post Flight

I recently flew BA and despite my request and confirmation at check in, my flight was credited to my BA account instead of my AA account. Is there any way to get this changed post-flight? And if so, who do I contact - BA or AA?

I am AA ExecPlat and it is a shame to miss on the miles/EQM, as well as an AA points promo that is ongoing...

Background:
* 2 leg business class flight booked on BA with one leg (EU) on BA metal and another (transatlantic) on AA.

You definitely have to contact BA, not AA, if the miles actually ended up in your BA account. Only BA has the ability to remove them from there and send them elsewhere (to AA). Whether they'll do that or not, I have no idea. And the sooner you contact them the better, and the more documentation you have of your previous request the better.

I can't tell you whether or not this is possible (itself an open-ended question with BA's IT systems) but I'm nearly 100% confident that it will not be changed for you. Sorry.

Ouch. Were you logged into your BA account when you purchased the ticket?

Got it done by BA twice in the last few months. Was intended to be credited to QR, BA removed the miles, I sent e-mail confirmation to QR, and subsequently received the QR miles.

It can be done and it was not difficult for me.

Honestly am surprised that it can be done, but I have just contacted BA customer service. They have said that they will remove the credited miles from my BA account and once I see them disappear I am to contact AA to get them credited there. The agent said that the points should be removed within the next 7 days.

Somehow I just have an uncomfortable feeling here, but Escape4 has had good luck with it so we'll see. And it does pain me to see 180TP and 9k Avios disappear...

I stand corrected. I was pretty certain that once you had posted miles in one programme a reversal was not in the cards.

I think that's generally true - unless you had originally requested that they be posted to a partner, that the posting as made was the airline's error, and that you can show that it was. If it was the passenger's error for not requesting partner credit in the first place, he or she is probably stuck.

I have been able to reverse crediting errors made by several different airlines over the years (e.g. SQ website is notorious for overriding your selected FFP with your Krisflyer account if you were logged in).

Sometimes it can be quite painful (and does not always work) and take a long time to be fixed, but I'd say most of the time I have been able to correct the mis-crediting. I don't bother if the miles aren't much because of the hassle factor.
