BKK-HKT
Any suggestions of intra-Thailand airlines to use for BKK-HKT? There are a few low cost airlines that are all within $50 USD of each other in April/May. I have no experience with any of them so just looking for suggestions. Mainly because in a previous life I'd fly around on sketchy airlines on intra-china routes and I'm looking to not terrify my soon to be wife on our wedding/honeymoon trip :D
Thai air JetStar AirAsia Bangkok Air etc.. |
Thai airways...

I've done this many times. Fly TG, you may even get a very big bird taking you there!

Will you be coming from time spent in Bangkok or will you be connecting from/to a flight on an international carrier?
General upside of PD (Bangkok Air) is smaller jets so less people & less luggage Upside of TG is connections & alternate flights in case of Irrops Upside of Air Asia & JetStar is usually price but that can be marginalized with the additional fees for luggage ect.. |

Congrats on the impending nuptials.
Bangkok Airways baggage policy is not that generous: Checked Baggage Economy Class : Maximum weight allowance is 20 kilograms for adult and child / 10 kilograms for infant. Blue Ribbon Class (Business Class) : Maximum weight allowance is 30 kilograms for adult and child / 10 kilograms for infant. Excess Baggage Rate Charge : Domestic : THB 80 per kilograms, per sector will be applied (effective from 1 March 2013 onwards). TG is a bit better: Royal Silk Class 40 kg (88 pounds) Premium Economy Class 30 kg (66 pounds) Economy Class 30 kg (66 pounds)

We will be coming into BKK via DL and spending the night, flying out the next day from either BKK or DMK, which ever makes the most sense. We are getting married in Thailand as well so we'll have what I assume to be plenty of luggage, so that is something to consider I hadn't previously (used to DM Status on DL).

I avoid flying Air Asia because of all the add-on's to the ticket price.
Note you can purchase extra weight up to 40kgs/passenger with Nok Air I often fly Thai Smile W9 because they are the only ones to fly to UTH ex BKK and pay extra for luggage at check in, no option to buy online, it's stupid... All the LLC's have new planes except Thai Orient, to be avoided. |

Thanks everyone.. Much appreciated, we booked Thai Airways.
Next piece of advice. We will be getting a car service from BKK to the JW Marriott as we get in at 9:25 and don't leave again till 2:30 the next day. 1. Is the VIP Immigration service worth it? 2. How much time should we plan on to get from the hotel 13miles away the next day through security at the airport and to our gate? Flight departure is 2:30pm. |
Probably best to ask / search in the Thailand forum?
I think most of your questions have been dealt there before. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thailand-624/ |
