Double booked on 2 separate airlines?
A silly question guys, but if I have 2 reservations on 2 different airlines,
different flights, both airlines in Amadeus, am I gonna get caught? Both bookings cancelled? |
I can't imagine this will get noticed unless you somehow manage to make both flights - assuming they overlap?
|
Yeah, basically I have an Asiana flight connecting in Seoul,
2nd leg is on crappy old J. I can book CX F instead for that same itinerary, same time, so yes, they are overlapping. I know, 2nd world problem obviously and I would "waste" miles, but it's a big trip for us and even that short segment would be much nicer in F. |
If you make two separate tickets (XXX OZ ICN OZ HKG and ICN CX HKG), the system will not find out the double booking. If booked this way, CX has no access to OZ bookings, even if they were using the same GDS (Amadeus).

Checked luggage could be a problem...

Plus OZ is Star and CX is oneworld... Still a bit hesitant to get my main ticket cancelled :D Read somewhere AA was building software to detect this kind of stuff. |

Is your OZ ticket a oneway, where you would skip the last segment (ICN-HKG) or would you like to skip a segment in between?

I can book CX F instead for that same itinerary,http://webhostinglo.com/9ce18.jpg

From what I'm guessing at present you have a one way booked from somewhere (lets say US) to ICN and then connecting to HKG, all with OZ. ICN-HKG you would prefer flying CX F, rather than OZ J? So you've also got a reservation ICN-HKG with CX? Have I got that right?
Theoretically should be OK, but few things to consider: - You will have to check in again for your CX flight, including checking in any baggage - If your flight to ICN is delayed, you might miss your CX flight (I guess not an issue, as you still have your OZ flight). But, why bother? ICN-HKG is only a few hours long. Is it really worth all that hassle? |

Add to this a potential plane swap and it wouldn't make any sense :D Currently only one CX flight has F, that's why I got into this idea BTW, but you make perfect sense, no doubt... |
