Seems like duplicate bookings on two different airlines have been being
detected for quite some time now... Not sure how everyone here is positive
this would go uncaught.

AA is not the only airline and it is no longer limited to just AA bookings on Sabre. I would not be as certain and glib about this situation as some others here.

I have had duplicate bookings for flights with one ticket issued by BA and the other issued by AA for the same (AA operated) flight several times. Never any issues whatsoever.

Sometimes I surprise myself. A few days after posting this a bunch of articles came out in the papers that one of the enthusiast groups has access to $160m and wants to get F-BTSD airborne again.
