Illegal connection ?
Hi to you all
I'm new here.Been stalking for awhile now and I finally decided to join in and ask your opinion I'm travelling from Montreal to Skopje. Macedonia. The booking was made thru a travel agent. We are flying with Air Canada to Paris, then it's air Serbia who operated the flights. Air Canada says there is an issue with the booking which might be a problem when we will be checking in. The connecting time in Belgrade, for our last flight its 45 min. According to Air Serbia who issued the tickets , 45 min it's considered perfectly legal. However, Air Canada said I might not be able to check my bags all the way to my final destination. What are your thoughts about it? If I don't have any luggage to check in, should I be able to get all my boarding passes ? I just want to note, all the flights are on the same reservation. Thank you in advance |
Looks to be a legal connection, 45min for a JU to JU connection is ok as per below.
AC should therefore be able to check your luggage through to your final destination. Results from ExpertFlyer.com Code:

You have posted the MCT for JU-JU at BEG. OP is connecting at CDG from AC-JU. What matters is what AC posts as a MCT at CDG. If OP's ticket doesn't meet the AC MCT at CDG, his bags won't be interlined. If he does not have checked luggage, AC may or may not board him at YUL.
I would obtain a definitive answer from the TA. |

Good question how long is the connection in CDG. AC doesn't care what happens to your bag after JU picks it up

Well the agent on the phone. Is there like an alert that pops once they pull out the reservation ? How does it work ? Air Serbia also send me an email explaining the connection time its legal and its all their responsibility as they issued the ticket. ill print the email and bring it with me.. hope that helps. |
especially since the final carrier is responsible for the bags if missing and not AC who is only the first leg. Not why they are so concerned with something that doesn't effect them

The agent told me that they will check my bags only for their flight. MTL-CDG. After that I am on my own. Maybe he was assuming that the following connection is illegal? CDG-BEG? |

This sounds to me like you should find a new travel agent.

I wonder if its the airline name/code issue. JU is still listed under the old name Jat Airways so maybe they don't realize Jat Airways and Air Serbia are the same airline? AC's baggage limits and fees would apply to the whole journey as its the overwater carrier but lost/delayed bags are handled by the airline of the last leg of the one way journey. Also are you sure the travel agent issued the whole reservation under 1 ticket number. |

How were you informed that the connection was not legal - did Air Canada contact you, did you contact them? Is the agent you're talking about an Air Canada agent on the phone? |
I booked it thru a travel agent who asures me its a legal connection. Thru Air Serbia. They also say there is nothing illegal about it.
I called Air Canada as I noticed a mistake in my daughters date of birth on the ticket. The travel agent said its not a problem as all the name were correct but I might wanna update it with Air Canada as they are asking those passenger informations. It's when the agent said he sees a problem with the connection.. Put me on hold and confirmed that international to international legal connection time its 1h and my bags will be checked in only for the first leg which makes no sense to me

From previous experiences, Ac won't be able to issue the boarding passes for AS flights so I'll have to go to the transfer desk or the gate but having to pass immigration , pick up my bag and re check in landside would be really complicated travelling with two toddlers. I'll prepare the carry ons in case hehe thanks |

Using the wrong codes can be disastrous. |
