LAX to MAD in style
 

What would be the best way to go direct from LAX to MAD and back in some kind of lie-flat seats? I have a British Airways credit card and a United credit card that I use with my business and I rack up a lot of miles.

I only think Iberia flies LAX-MAD seasonal. Could book from your BA account linked with your CC.

Iberia or BA via LHR. If you choose BA be prepared to $$$$ in surcharges.

Transferring BA Avios to an Iberia Plus account and then redeeming for travel on the IB nonstop (if you can find award-seat availability) would be considerably cheaper than redeeming BA Avios for the same IB flight.

That sounds good. Does Iberia offer lie-flat seats? Can I use a BA Travel Together Ticket on that flight?

Product depends on aircraft. A330s tend to have new lay-flats. A340s are a mixed bag. Check seatmap for your desired flight, and hope you don't see 2x2x2. BA 2-for1 Chase certs can't be used on IB metal.

What does that mean?

Means a crap sleep. If you can sleep with your knees locked, you'll be fine. Otherwise, you'll gradually slip down and wind up on the floor. Imagine if the head of your bed at home was a foot higher than the foot of the bed. Can you sleep at an angle?

Post # 16 says the seats should be the 180 flatbed even though it is listed as "angel lie flat"

Same concept, though that's a Northwest seat and they don't exist anymore.

All Iberia seats are flat. Question is whether they lie parallel to the floor or at an angle. If 2x2x2 you will be at an angle. So don't get your hopes up if that's your configuration.

Good attitude! I wasn't try to diminish your enthusiasm. For me, travel is all a out managing expectations. I trust you've located availability? San Sebastaian is not to be missed,if using AA miles to fun there's no extra charge to fly there via Madrid (depending on your layover). Good luck.
