Delhi | Virgin Atlantic to Indigo Transfer Question

Family of 4 (2 minor kids).
Itinerary (Dec 21 2024 - Dec 23, 2024):
JFK->LHR Virgin Atlantic 138
LHR -> DEL Virgin Atlantic 300
DEL -> CCU Virgin Atlantic 9320, Operated by Indigo.

We have OCI. We need to do FTI-TTP biometrics.

Questions:
1. Where do we do immigration? DEL or CCU?
2. Do we need to collect bags and clear customs in DEL?
3. Will it all be T3? or do we need to figure out some way from T3 to one of the domestic terminals? With bags?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

Usually when you enter India and want to connect to a domestic flight you are supposed to clear immigration / pick up bags and clear customs at first point of entry.. So this will be DEL.

I know that indigo operates at multiple terminals at DEL.. You probably have to check the indigo flight number ( not the VS number) to see which terminal it departs from )

Thank you @ukdoctor. The IndiGo flight # is 6E 6182. That flight # is not in the list you linked. So it is probably going from T1.

It will be a pretty big hassle to go from T3 to T1. But good that I know before hand, and will pack accordingly. :-(

DEL T1 just reopened after a refurb (and associated roof collapse in the terminal parking) so things on which flight is assigned to T1 or 3 is not cast in stone that far out. But yes expect to lug your belongings to a T2 or T1 as 6E normally doesn't depart from T3.

T1 is still not fully operational but by December it will be. Its highly unlikely your Indigo flight will depart from T3.

Does anyone know if the Virgin Atlantic baggage allowance carries over to a connecting flight? According to the Indigo website the standard domestic checked baggage allowance is 15kg. I’m flying into Delhi in premium and have an allowance of 2x23kg plus carry on

On a single, codeshare ticket - it will carry over. You claim bags at DEL and drop it with Indigo. On separate tickets, it won't but Indigo has better pricing for excess weight for those connecting to/from INTL destinations.
