Possible to apply for eVisa again while first application is still pending?

Apologies for the rather unusual question:
A friend of mine has applied for eVisa/Tourist and there seems to be a problem with the upload of the passport page. She was asked to re-upload the document and is since then waiting 3 days to hear any news. The eVisa status is still pending. As the arrival into India is supposed to be in less than a week we were thinking of alternatives - one of which would be to just send a completely new application through the eVisa webpage. Does anybody know if that is possible and allowed?

Any ideas about alternatives to apply for a tourist visa at short notice (based in Germany)?

Many thanks for sharing your experience

I don't believe the system will accept a new application with the same passport number if the earlier one is still pending.

The ETA has a number to call: +91 11 24300666 You are supposed to key in 00125226622 in the IVRS prompt. Maybe they can help you.

We just wrote an email, they asked for patience and then after a day or so the evisa arrived. We have not tried to apply again.
