I had applied in August 2017 and completed my police verification in early Sept. Finally after numerous status requests, i got to know it was arrived from MoFand HMO in last week of June. The status wasn't updated in the passport portal but got the update through Twitter by tweeting to Mumbai rpo with the details.
As soon as conditional approval was done, I looked up for the appointment at SFO and it was in September. Did a walk in at SFO after couple of days and got final approval after about an hour wait.
I'm assuming when this started, everyone in govt were clueless on what needs to be done and trying to figure it out. Hence such a long time of almost a year for most folks in getting the approvals. It should hopefully be reduced to few months now.
Those who received it, enjoy quicker immigration entry when traveling to the US.
Those still waiting for the approval, keep following up on your status update, preferably through social media. Twitter worked for me by tagging MoF, MEA, HMO and passportseva authorities. Good luck!!

Singapore Enrolment Center?!

Hi,

Has any Indian legal residents in Singapore completed enrolment for global entry from the USA Embassy in Singapore?

Cheers,
Prakash

You can enrol online from anywhere, the interview is only possible in the US, London or Doha.

Got conditional approval today from US CBP. Timeline:

- Paid $100 fees in mid-August 2017
- Went to Passport Seva Kendra in mid-December 2017. Police paid a visit to my home within a week.
- Police verification complete by mid-Jan 2018.
- Conditionally approved Aug 2018.

Now I need to get a valid visa stamp first, before I can get full approval. Only then can I use TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry.

Quick question - Has anyone living in India got approval yet? or only those living outside currently?
My father wants to apply, but he lives in India - Just trying to figure out if its worth it or not ? He visits the US 2-3 times a year minimum if not more.

Successfully enrolled from Singapore today; except for a few hardware issues (which kind of reminded me of the AADHAAR enrolment process!), it was a very smooth and a cordial affair!

Took my scheduled appointment at Philly airport as I was flying into the US for a meeting. On landing at JFK airport they had a sign that all who were approved could without appointment before immigration have their fingerprinting & interview done. I branched off to the designated lane (A). Due to a heavy incoming rush they were very busy & advised me that the wait time would be in excess of an hour & to proceed with my scheduled interview the next day at PHL. I agreed & they most graciously walked me thru the diplomatic channel so I would not have to stand in line.

Went to PHL airport international arrivals for the interview at the scheduled time. Wait time 1 minute, interview fingerprinting & photographs about 5 mins & then showed me how to use the card & the do's & donts as well as if I forget the card or the passport changes etc. Thanked me & vice versa & was on my way. Within 30 mins received email with the Global entry number which is also a TSA pre number. The card will be delivered in 2 weeks to a US address only.

So this is how it works.

When booking your ticket & or checking in give your Global entry number to upload. This gives you TSA pre access & you will never be stripped searched or taken aside plus you get to use the faster lines. On arrival go to the Global entry kiosk. Scan your passport & follow instructions on screen. Get receipt & walk out. Apparently card not required. At land border to Mexico & Canada it is card swipe.

Next visit next month so will be able to use the kiosk for the first time & hopefully get my card. good to go!!!!

You will not get a card.... the KTN (aka PASSID) and your pasport is enough. Sadly having a GE PASSID doesn't spare you of the dreaded SSSS... so keep changing your underwear ;)

Hmm she specifically told me I get a card if I have a US address....well time will tell.

Yes the Dreaded SSSS, since I have stuck to one airline & am a Platinum them for years have not been felt up so had almost forgotten about wearing the Undies. Last time I got that SSSS was when I most definitely pissed the check in person off.

She's wrong. Only US citizens and Green Card holders and Mexican citizens get the GE card.

From the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website:
Global Entry Card

Global Entry cards are issued to Global entry members who are U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents and Mexican nationals.

If the Indian citizen is a US LPR with a US address, then they may get a GE card. There are Indian citizens who reside most of the year in India and are yet US LPRs with a US address.

That's because they are an LPR aka Green Card holder, who have long been able to get Global Entry regardless of any CBP agreement with their native country. Indian green card holders do not need to get a police verification done in India, they just go through the same process a US citizen would go through.

Whether a LPR should be living 'most' of their time outside the USA is another matter. For one, your primary residence for Global Entry, legal, and immigration purposes is more or less dependent on where you spend 183 days out of the year Two, not fulfilling your 183 day requirements over multiple years can be grounds for cancelation of the Green Card. And they keep exit / entry records now based on passenger manifests and land exits to Canada so you can't really fib on your dates of travel (ie dates outside the USA), like people may have been able to do in the past.

GEP conditional approval

Any further updates from anyone with GEP conditional approval from India side? One of my friends who went through the PSK / police verification process sometime end of January this year recently got his conditional approval. My PSK / police verification was done some time mid February. Still no updates for me.

cubebot Nov 3, 2018 3:16 pm

Finally, after 1 year 1 month, my GEP application got conditionally approved yesterday. Luckily, I got an appointment for an interview at the airport today. I just used twitter for query and not sure if it helped me!

vv81 Nov 3, 2018 4:06 pm

Wow that’s good to know. Can you please let me know who and how you contacted via Twitter ?

Has anyone received a conditional approval recently? I raised a grievance through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) and got a response that the file is pending with the Ministry of Finance. No idea how to proceed as the Ministry of Finance is not listed on the CPGRAMS system.

I applied in December 2017 and finished police verification in January 2018.

I've been waiting since Dec 2017 as well. Finance minstry is broken down into revenue/economic affairs/expenditure/financial services. I'm not sure which one is so concerned about GEP. Maybe raise it with all one by one.

Raised grievances with all the departments. Also filed an RTI with MEA. Hope I won't have my passport confiscated in pursuit of Global Entry. :)

I raised grievance with MEA and MinFIn. Interestingly the grievance raised with Finance Ministry was answered by MEA as follows

Information regarding status of verification carried out by Indian authorities and communicated to US CBP authorities will NOT be disclosed to the applicants or the general public as this information is being collected on behalf of the US Government, under a bilateral agreement. xobile Dec 11, 2018 8:57 am

What an utter mess this continues to be. It should not take 12 months to unnecessarily process clearance through 13 different agencies for this US based program. We do police clearance for our passport application, and that takes only a day or so, so why does it take so long for this program that doesn't even effect India? There are people who have been born, received their Indian passport, applied for and been approved for USA immigrant visas , and moved to the US in the span of that 12 months. Utterly ridiculous that this takes so long for a program such as this.

Acid Dec 27, 2018 7:55 am

It's been exactly a year since my application and police clearance. I was hoping for a Keyser-like anniversary surprise but alas.....

Global entry on H1-B

Has anyone tried using Global entry on H1-B visa. It seems that you are not allowed directly through global entry for h1b visa holders. You still have to go to the customs officer and they'll verify your documents. I have gone through the customs twice and both times after scanning the passport,I was directed to go to the officer again for them to verify the documents.
Anybody else has had similar experience?
