Is Dom Back on 9w?

Just wondering, before I book a whole series of flights in J... (A332, not 77w)

ayeleswarapu Sep 7, 2009 8:33 pm

Nope. The Noble Cuvee de Lanson and Graham's 20 year old Port on all flights North America to India (as of 9/3/2009).

Newark-Brussels (and v.v.):

Reds - Benziger Cabernet Sauvignon, Francis Coppola Diamond Series Claret Cabernet Sauvignon

Whites - Kendall Jackson Vintners Reserve Chardonnay: 2006, Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Fume Blanc: 2007

Brussels-Mumbai (and v.v.):

Reds - Chateau Puy Saint Georges: 2006, Bourgogne Rouge Vieilles Vignes: 2007

Whites - Montagny Premier Cru: 2006, Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mouton Cadet Blanc

ayeleswarapu Sep 7, 2009 8:36 pm

I wonder... do they keep the same menu around for the month (with the exact same offerings)? Never travelled twice in the same month on 9W, so I'm not sure.

They used to - for simplicity I'm sure...

LH unfortunately serves the same horrible food in C without changes during the summers! One of the reasons Oberoi got booted...

Terrible - that Noble Cuvee was not something I was too fond of! Yuk. :td: :(

YGPM.

Update: Dom pulled on TATL/BRU-BOM in C - buggers are ridiculous!

AJLondon Dec 7, 2009 4:12 am

Dom was present a couple of weeks back on DEL-LHR in J and also on LHR-DEL in F.

5 December was *again* the cutoff date, apparently! :td:

The menu from EWR (not handed to pax) showed Dom, but the horrible "The Noble Cuvee de Lanson" was offered to us...

Then the menu handed out on the flight from BRU to BOM had it printed, cementing our fears!:

Should I be disappointed about not having DOM or Krug on the flight 228 Dec 17th Bru-Ewr?? I heard that is the best part ;)

You would be the one to tell us! ;)

One *was* able to sample Dom in C, but now it's only offered in F! :(

Regionals?? You mean domestic - Nothing! :p

Actually, they have a decent one on the SIN legs - last time I flew - a German-sounding one - forget the name...

d3vski Dec 7, 2009 12:31 pm

My definitions (nothing official)

Domestic = within India (No Alky!)
Regionals = 737 international flights
Long Haul = widebody routes A330/B77w

Well regionals can also include A332, used for SIN-BOM, BOM-HKG, etc...so aircraft type alone cannot determine this.

Don't remember the name, but going by the taste, it could just as easily have been labelled pissenwasser!

P.S.: Or alternatively, what's the German for battery acid?!!

Save that for the *real* stuff on LH that's undrinkable!

flying_pig Jan 4, 2010 5:25 am

Dom was served yesterday on BOM-LHR.

Was in F, but had a peak at the C cabin and saw Dom being poured there too.

Interesting to see how wishy-washy Jet is - depends on whether they have a tailwind or a headwind, eh? :p

Are you talking about the Louis Roederer Brut?

Yep...

propofol Feb 25, 2010 3:01 am

Dom was served on my recent LHR-BOM in J on 9w. The menu specifically mentions it. Yum.

Whenever they consider themselves as making money on the route, they reintroduce it, and vice-versa! :p

I don't think you're too far of the mark...I believe the choice of alco depends on the load, and that they even have different drinks menus - decisions made up to one hour before departure. Sounds unbelievable !

'Tis unbelievable - when one experiences it yourself!!

(Sometimes they hide the drinks menu - just to prevent us from asking for the Dom, which they don't want to proffer!)

Just done a BOM-BKK-BOM and it was the "Louis Roederer Brut". On the outbound, i had a couple of glasses and to be fair, i had an extremely bad cold and cough so am unable to give a fair opinion on the taste but it did not have the instant "Yuk" reaction you get with some sparkling wines/champagnes!

On the inbound, i had way too much alcohol the night before so went teetotal!

I have to admit, the B737s are not bad for flight times upto 4.30 hrs. Wife was extremely comfortable and overall Seat, legroom, IFE and service were pretty good!

I must admit at the risk of being flamed - especially after starting this thread - that the
L R B tastes quite similar to Dom and is perfectly acceptable for these short "jaunts" to BKK, SIN, etc.! :p

Agree, BUT, it is a far inferior champagne to DP ;-)

PS: The "DP" is a bait for AJ...

Dom is back Ladies & Gentlemen. :) ^^^^^

They served it on the 77W from DEL to LHR earlier this week.

I asked the FA about this and she said that they had received a lot of negative feedback about the "other" champers so they decided to bring Dom back.

I loved the way it was freely poured and also left on the bar throughout the flight.

Anyone flown recently? What mood are they in now days?

safari_7 Apr 27, 2010 10:46 pm

What about the new flight to JNB anyone know?

The Cuvee along with the wine list mentioned on page 1 of this thread - they all sound like cheap stuff intended to be served for massive cost cutting operations??? Terrible.

Keyser Apr 28, 2010 5:15 am

they were serving it on the flight to hkg earlier this month....

Weren't you in F on 77w?? Then you would have had the Dom for sure!

However, the route has now switched over to A332, so probably the regional fare of the Louis Roederer Brut, such as BOM-SIN-BOM!

You think they serve Dom on the 77W's and keep the other stuff for the 330's?
