9W one fare pass - easy to use?
i am considering buying 6 books during a family visit to india 4 of us - 6 flights each during the trip.
can any one who has used them comment on the ease of use other than the info in the link below from the 9W site? i prefer the one time purchase and to be able to airline last minute to book - no change fees etc. - our plans are fluid. 1. can 4 passengers on the same flight use 1 coupon book (1 coupon per passenger) 2. what is the process for booking, what info does 9W need from the coupon to take a reservation? 3. can the coupon be exchanged for the ticket on day of departure at the airport or does it need to be done sooner? thanks, http://www.jetairways.com/EN/IN/Spec...ssEconomy.aspx |
Buying walk-up fares is likely to be a better deal. And it also gives you the flexibility to pick and choose airlines based on schedule...

He keeps a booklet handy and chooses between booking a new ticket online (any airline) and using the coupon. He exchanges the coupon for a ticket ticket, at checkin time only even though they ask him to come ahead and do it. He pleads distance from nearest jet office. |

To the OP , last minute bookings on domestic flights in India is very very simple and can easily be done online..lots of airline websites / online TA's to choose from and can easily be booked also on date of travel upto a few hrs till the flight.. |
i use the première booklet & found it great value for money....sometimes its been difficult to get a last minute booking but in general its worked out very well....not sure if the economy booklet would be good value....unless you want to stick to flying 9w, i would just book the cheapest fare on any airline & not bother with the booklet....

Quite often the coupons work out cheaper than last minute tickets especially if you are a regular traveler on the long (relatively) flights. I guess a mixture is the way to go. |

There is one more advantage of buying booklets, chances of being bumped up to business, it adds value to your profile with the airline.

my firm has been using the booklets since they first came out....my junior colleagues use the economy booklet on a regular basis but i have never heard any of them mention getting upgrades to business class....
They would be more likely to bump up a business owner (decision maker) than his minions. |

Being bumped up has a lot to do with your profile and persona.

& how would they know who is a business owner & who is a 'minion'????
You get favored treatment even just by association with a VVIP flyer, and I don't mean the Platinums. The minion goes how the boss tells him to go. |

From the customer profile they keep. All airlines do it. In fact all businesses do it. Everything is not on that JP info page, there is more to it then just that.

The minion goes how the boss tells him to go. i can't even imagine how many 9w flights a year members of my firm must be taking....if i were to take a guess it would be in the thousands....i don't know if i would be considered a vvip flyer by the airline but by your definition i would....i take about a hundred flights a year & am the key decision maker of which airline & hotel my team uses....i have been doing this for many years & always travel in business or first when traveling for work....but when i travel on my own dime then its always in economy....in my last 7-8 years as platinum i have only received 2 upgrades in total....one was because the airline messed up my reservation & then upgraded me to make it up to me & the other was on a short 30 minute flight from pnq-bom.... i have no doubt that 9w keeps a profile of its regular customers but i still do not believe the one pass booklet would have any bearing on upgrades.... |

+1 Anyday..

I found using us credit cards on airline websites in India to be a pain. makemytrip is easy but they keep flooding my email with junk even after i opt out. |
Cleartrip, AI.com. 9W.com, all handle American credit cards just fine.
|
no problems booking on the indigo or spicejet websites with american cards either, but you may have to call your CC before booking to let them know, in case they reject charges due to fraud monitoring. Generally, you only have to do that once and you're good to go.
|
I have had a lot of issues on SG's website actually. Nowadays, I only can book through ClearTrip or ATO for SG flights.
