Eh, well, I guess time to forget lounge access and free checked bags unless you're an elite. Here is the new guidelines from DGCA about things that can become chargeable! (seating, meals, lounges, checked bags included).

I think its a good thing, the indian market is so extremely price sensitive, but at the same time demands luxuries and other goods.

Now they can make the choice of what they want, so those who need cheap tickets get just that, but us who at times need some more can purchase that at good prices.

Airlines need to run a buisness and when the market is not willing to pay for the luxuries they should not get it. Same as is what is happening in Europe with Ryanair.

Many people are complaining, but they still fly them, and with that say to them the most important factor is price.

Non-elites got free lounge access previously?

They really needs to change policy on baggage fees and make it very uniform.. the cost of an extra piece of luggage or little extra weight sometime cost more than the ticket price...

yes, if they flew business....unlike north america where you have to be an elite to get lounge access, even if you are flying in business....

You don't have to be a FFP elite to get lounge access in the US or elsewhere in North America. While only some routes within the US come with lounge access based on business/first class, there are various other ways to get lounge access in North America without being a FFP elite.

Most US FFP elites -- even most of the the 75k+ mile flyers -- do not get comped lounge access for trips wholly within the US.

The problem is that instead of unbundling fairly and charging customers for the services they want, LCC airlines are simply going to take away those services they provided for free (I guess the only service they still provide free is 20 kgs luggage allowance and hand baggage) and start charging for them, while the fares won't drop a dime.. So now we will be paying the same fares for no a 0 luggage allowance ticket..

+1

The extra luggage charges in India border on extortion (completely my personal opinion - plz spare me the - "Ooh you should fly here and there to see how bad things are outside India" )

In few sectors, it's cheaper to fly a extra person & use the allowance, than paying extra charge by KGs.
