Singaporean pax who I used to bump into at EWR on my late night LH flights also made comment to me on this - and I laugh back, telling them that this is the only *A carrier who does this...

That's true, the hard product is fantastic. But banking on just that can only take them so far for so long. Besides, with the decidedly inferior new J seats, they're chipping away even more at the advantage they had over much of the competition. They need at least one stand-out feature : hard product, network/connectivity, FFP or, even, ground service. We will soon be at the point where Jet have none.

As for the lounge, I presume you're speaking of Brussels? Because at home base, they have no lounge, as we all know. I recently went to Hong Kong for Sevens weekend (on Cathay, bless, but a friend was on Jet because CX were full by the time he decided to join us for the trip). He tried going to the lounge, only to have the cerberus turn him (and others) away at the entrance : "we're full, please go to a restaurant or bar".
