OT: Please register on FlightMemory

Dear India forum members, requesting you to please setup an account on FlightMemory if you haven't already. If we cross more than 200 registrations from India, they will create a India-specific map for us who travel domestically.

Please do sign up....PFA email from FlightMemory on my request to include an India map in their website:

At the moment, we are receiving many queries for country-maps/continental maps from all over the world. As we need to find a solution for all queries about maps - here is our democratic proposal:

Once we have 200 users from a country, we will create a country map - until then, we hope you can help us get more users from your country by using the "invite"-function on the site.

indialogue, we can only ask you for your patience - we know the "dilemma" but at the same time, we are way too small to solve everything very quickly and our maps are all self developed so one of us needs to sit down for each map and we are just two people running this site.
This said, I am sure, we will soon find a solution for India.

Thank you for supporting FlightMemory!

My ID on FM is: GuyFromBOM.
I did use FM for quite some time, but their lack of regional maps & loads of ads made me switch to other sites...

OpenFlights.org is good, but I prefer FlightDiary.net , you can view my history here: flightdiary.net/GuyFromBOM

Flightdairy is really nice but I have over 90 flights stored in Flightmemory :( Wish there was an easy way to export from FM into FD. Any ideas?

As of now, FD does not allow importing directly from FM.

But, here is the best alternative to manually feeding all the info:

1. Created a new account with both- OpenFlights & FlightDiary.
2. Using the 'Import' option on OF, get the data from your FlightMemory A/c to the new OF A/c.
3. Repeat the same procedure in FlightDiary, except you will now import from OF.

In short: FM >> OF >> FD
You may use all 3 and then decide which is the best database as per your liking.

While we are at it, could someone kindly help me set my FlightDiary banner as a 'Signature' on FT. I have been looking for options out here, but don't know how to enable the Signature.

snod08 Sep 13, 2011 6:25 pm

I already have an FM....same user name snod08 as on FT

kshastry Sep 14, 2011 9:57 am

Me too.. same user name as in FT.

You require 90 days / 90 posts on FT to have a signature.

Nomdeplume Sep 15, 2011 8:34 am

Add nomdeplume as well, pls

Good initiative.
Please add my username as well.

Besides the above method that i suggested, FD has activated a new feature that allows users to Import / Export their data using a CSV file. Do check it out.

Thanks! Tried it out and went mostly smoothly except for some stuttering on importing S2 and PNW flights. Got 80-odd imported in, have another 10 to do manually

678flyer Sep 25, 2011 7:39 pm

Add my name to the list... same id as here.

how did you export the flightmemory data?

Also is there a template for the .CSV files for flight diary?

slamdunkrookie Sep 26, 2011 1:37 am

Dear Whizkid, please the 1st quoted section on how to export flightmemory data. Its not a perfect method but it gets most of the flights exported fine

Thanks,

I found 2 issues,

1. Defunct airlines (Paramount & Air Deccan) are getting imported and available in FD when you enter manually.

2. The Dates of the Flights are not getting imported to FD from OF (Which is a big issue for me)

Any one faced the same issues? - Any Workarounds?

Wow, its been about 10 days since I last visited FD... They have had a major overhaul..!

1. Until a while ago, S2 was listed as Air Sahara and G8 was listed as Gujarat Airways. (Send a Feedback & the admin will update the database after verification)

2. Check the parameters / format requirements for OF vs FD (dd-mm-yyyy, mm-dd-yyyy, or others) and then in the MS Excel file, select the entire date series and format it in the matching pattern. To format text in MS Excel, highlight the data>> right click>> "Format Cells">> Select "Date">> Select the appropriate format.

PS: If you contact the admin in FD using the "Send Feedback" option, they are quick to revert & help-out.

Whizkid Sep 30, 2011 4:21 am

Thanks.

Another option missing in FD wrt OF is a option to delete all the entries. Like wipe all data. It would have been much helpful to try out the import feature - not I'm forced to delete each lines seperatly

Like i mentioned earlier, use the "Send Feedback" option. They may be able to reset your logs.

Also, try using the Banner into your 'signature' block.

How were you able to get the number of Indians on the site? If its already so close, can write to them using my previous thread and this one here and ask them to add India as an option pronto!
