Jet First Checked luggaage
 

How strict are they on checked in luggage with Jet First? I will have 2 bags at 30kgs each. Can I check these in instead of the 3 @ 23 kgs each.

Is there a charge for being over 23kgs?

where r u checking in? at NYC/EWR I've never had an issue with bags at around 25-27kgs.
BOM has become seriously painful on luggage and the attitude of staff at BOM INTL is abysmal.

I have never had a problem at DEL, even with the few staff I don't recognise / know well. Especially with a J/F tix.

if you are traveling jet first then i presume you are going to lhr....you are entitled to 69 kg of checked-in luggage....you can break that up into as many bags as you want....

Yep LHR. Are you sure as it says 3 x 23kgs. Anyway will give it a shot and update here. I am sure it won't be a problem, they are normally very co-operative at check-in.

carry a print out of this with you & you should be fine....

As Keyser confirmed - Europe allowances has been changed to 69kgs - no limit on number of bags. UK restrictions which fine airlines if they are found checking bags over 32kgs without special warning are still in place so don't cross 32 and you'll be fine.

This must have changed recently. I am sure it said 3 x 23kg when I checked a few months back.

slightly off from the OPs post but a related question.

I am doing BOM-BRU-JFK on Jet J at the end of the month and checking into a Delta flight JFK-SEA shortly. Both are ticketed separately. While my 9w allowance says 69 kg for BOM-BRU as Keyser noted earlier, the BRU-JFK leg states 3 bags of 23 kgs each. On the next legs with Delta, I am eligible for 2 bags of 32 kgs each. I am planning to carry only 2 checked bags

My question is, a) will 9w be flexible in checking in bags which may be 30 kgs each approx to bring them into JFK
b) can I through check in bags all the way to SEA with 9w here itself in BOM?

i've done something similar with jet & delta a bunch of times....but i was always on one through ticket....never had a problem checking in my bags all the way from delhi to my final destination....

You can through check your bags, with the usual caveat that you claim them for customs and then drop them off with DL. The bagage situation is a bit complicated. Some airlines/airports, due to liability reasons. have restriction of the weight of a single item. If each of your two bags is under 50 lbs, there would be no issue. Are you flying the nonstop JFK-SEA? That route has BE service instead of domestic First Class, althought the seats are the domestic First Class on a 757.

I have never transited in the U.S. from one airline to another when they were not in the same alliance and hence operated from the same terminal, QA and AA, for example. How do you handle your baggage in your situation? Jet Airways operates in terminal 8 while DL operates in 2-3 and 4. Does DL have representation.

Things have become so much better now. Travellers are much better informed now, thanks to sites such as FT. We were flying DEL-CDG-IAD in the 80's when AF cacnelled CDG-IAD flight and put us on IAD-JFK to connect to Eastern or some such airline in JFK and did not through check-in. We had to lug our bags from one terminal to another to check-in. We didn;t know any better. We got no compensation, nor did we know to ask for any. We arrived in Washington D.C. (DCA, instead of IAD) around midnight, instead of around 1:00 p.m.

Yaatri the JFK-SEA trip was an afterthought to the BOM-JFK plan, so booked it separately online. Outwards, I am doing JFK-CVG-SEA and here are the rules that apply to me as per Delta on Y:
For travel within or between the United States and Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico and all travel to Brazil: SkyMiles Medallion® Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond members, Million Milers, SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members, and Alaska Air MVP & MVP Gold Members traveling in Economy may check up to two bags up to 70 lbs (32 kg) each at no charge on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights.

Jet has checked me in for BA flights when I am on two separate tickets. Sometimes they give me a boarding pass, sometimes they don't. However luggage is tagged through to the final journey.

So if they have a interline luggage agreement they should be able to check you through.
