As with most things - it depends. Amongst other things is the fare difference and what that means to you. 6E has those slim seats on most international flights and that makes it terribly uncomfortable travel for anything over 2 hours for me. Other than that that it also depends on what kind of premium you place on SQ's service, flight timing convenience etc. Also for cheaper tickets on 6E you don't get any food. Which on a long flight can be an issue and a cost.

Also depends what class of service on SQ! ;)

oliver2002 Jun 22, 2022 2:20 am

I was seriously impressed by Indigo. But more from a process and operations perspective. In terms of pax comfort I would not fly them for more than 2 hours.

Supposedly the staff called in sick because they were interviewing with Air India.

Sounds more like strikes.

Any experience with IndiGo? Are they reliable?

LCC but exceptionally reliable.

You'll always be guaranteed a good consistent experience with them.

Thanks! For some reason I couldn't look at their flights on flight Aware. As long as they run relatively on time, I'm happy.

Bear in mind - most IndiGo flights arrive T1 / T2 in DEL and for transfer to INTL, you will have to bus/cab it WITH luggage (if not through checked) and the distance is fair bit - i'd leave aside another 30-40 mins just for this transfer.

Flew 6E for the first time BLR-PNQ-BLR recently. I splurged (in relative terms) with all the extras.
  • Check-in was easy, and with FFWD skipped the queues at both airports, which was really helpful.
  • PRBD (Quick Board) worked well in BLR once I realized it existed and I had it! In PNQ there was no line for this and I just boarded with Zone 1. In neither place was there a relevant announcement.
  • The seat is miserably uncomfortable. Barely any cushioning. Thank goodness the flights were just an hour and change each way.
  • The food - I pre-ordered a chicken tikka sandwich. The filling was fine, the bread was some weird mushy concoction. But stranger to me was that everybody else seemed to get a little cardboard baggie with a snack in it, plus a sandwich, whereas with my pre-ordered meal that I believe I paid extra for, I only got a sandwich. I have no idea what I missed or did wrong here! Or maybe they all pre-ordered something more intelligent than I did?
  • FFWD Baggage delivery worked well at both airports, my bag was amongst the first out.
All in all, as good an LCC experience as I've had anywhere. But the seat comfort is a showstopper. Definitely will only use as a last resort in future, or on a short flight where I can save $$.

How does the seat compare to Air India?

6E has those awful slimline seats. AI has much more comfortable cushioned seats.

Those sitting in front in 6E usually are on corporate fares, which entitles them to some food and a drink. The drink now a days comes in a funny shaped bag. Perhaps that's what you saw.

Your meal might have also included a drink, or maybe they need to be pre-ordered separately.

Awful. Possibly the worst I have sat on. Other slimline seats somehow have better cushioning than these.

That could well be it. I was offered a drink with my meal, but the choices were Coke or Frooti so I passed in both cases. Maaza, I'd have gone for...

You weren’t offered Paperboat drinks? That’s what is somehow always offered on my flights.

Don't know what those are, but wasn't offered that in any case! Just Coke or Frooti (or tea/coffee/water of course).

Frooti is an Indian mango drink that may or may not contain mango :-) See also Maaza, which I first encountered 30+ years ago and fell in love with at first taste (sugar+mango is a winner anytime, even more so when a child).

How strict is Indigo with the 7kg weight limit for carry-on baggage and the 3kg weight limit for personal items?

3 kg not very. 7kg they do ask to weigh sometimes... if you can keep it out of their view.

They are strict about the 7kg bag. I have been asked to weigh my bag about 50% of the time.

Is there any way I can credit the miles earned on a SIN-TRZ-SIN Indigo itinerary to any of US carriers? AA says "You can’t earn AAdvantage® miles or earn Loyalty Points on IndiGo flights purchased directly from IndiGo (flight numbers beginning with ‘6E’)." I'm not sure how frequently I will be flying with 6E in future, so I'd rather have any points earned credited to some US based airline.

The simple answer is that it’s not possible. The longer answer is maybe, depending on who issued the tickets and whether the flight has AA flight number (I’m not too familiar with AAdvantage rules).

In your case, it’s a simple round trip from SIN to TRZ and back. So it is not going to be possible.

At check-in they will often ask you to weigh it, if you go straight to the gate, they don't have any weighing machines there.

Canceled a couple of domestic Indigo flights 2 months ago. No refunds issued yet.
These tickets were refundable with a 999 rupees penalty.
What is the best approach to contact Indigo? Call ? or Twitter (X)?

I did keep the screenshots of the cancellation page - which shows the amount to be refunded.

How is domestic business class in the new A321neos? The seats look comfortable, but I can't find any reviews online of the service.

I've flown them a bunch on times on the DEL-BOM route. The seats are very comfortable but the service is still at a LCC level. Their business class meal boxes are basic. I stick to my Chicken Junglee Sandwich on all their flights.

Is it a 3 row business class cabin (12 seats) or more?

That’s still better than the new config AI/UK business class with just 8 seats.
