Schedule arrival is 1945...so EU comp 2245....minus 15 hrs flight (average) so 745...so in an hour....hmm....
|
And we are off again! ETA is now 2240...so 2hrs55min
|
Just remember EU261 should take into account doors open time rather than landing arrival time.

If they use 2L door I won't be able to see when the door opens...this is gonna be close... |

Aurora!! Defo take the left side in winter flights
|
Enjoy! My brain still cannot cope with the idea of a Japan to Europe flight going eastwards over North America...

FR24 is estimating landing at 2237. Wonder if they will intentionally taxi as fast as possible and have people waiting to get the door open because of 261.

Glass half full view is EU261 really gives the airline a huge incentive to not delay pax for more than 3 hours :) Boarded 11ish JP time, 3ish Spain time, get off 22ish Spain time...19 hours... thoughts are with pax in Y... |
22:46 at gate but jet bridge not connected yet , have a photo of the screen saying 2246 and can see non attached jet bridge outside.
|
First J pax off 2254...3 hours 09 minutes...
Hmm the door at the end of the jet bridge connection to the terminal is closed...... we're stuck on the bridge... |
Good luck with the compensation.
I'm still impressed that a fully-loaded plane could take off, return to land after presumably circling a bit over the ocean to dump fuel, have the fault fixed (sensor or actual fuel pump), refuel, take off again, and still make it to Madrid ONLY 3 hours late. |

Good, morning after the night before... Score card is out...2245... exactly 3 hrs...checked AESA...3 hours or more...Xmas miracle! |

Comp approved - email came at 0715 on a Sunday morning...IB CS works 24/7?
Amount is 300eur as per the new-norms for a delayed flight between 3-4 hours 3500km, however I'm thinking whether I can get 600eur https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizen...cancellation-1 Cancellation occurs when: - The aircraft took off but, was forced to return to the airport of departure and you were transferred to another flight -> No? Cuz the same frame and flight number operated the second attempt - Your flight arrives at an airport which is not the final destination indicated on your ticket, unless: - - You accepted re-routing (under comparable transport conditions at the earliest opportunity) to the airport of your original final destination or to any other destination agreed by you. In this case it is considered as a delay and not a cancellation. - - The airport of arrival and the airport of the original final destination serve the same town, city or region. In this case it is considered as a delay and not a cancellation. -> So is the return/diversion to NRT itself already considered a canx? If so we proceed to compensation: Only "If the airline has offered you re-routing"...and arrival is under 4 hours is the 600eur halved...but then if we sat in NRT and the same frame and same flight number did a second attempt, is that re-routing? So instead of using delay comp and be subjected to the 3hrs/3500km/300eur rule, can I use diversion-canx (& no-reroute) to get 600? |
