Cheap Opportunities to Earn FFNs

Seems like we traditionally have a thread to let others know of the hotels where 'stays' can be had at minimal cost.

Hyatt Place, Fremont, CA - $71, many weekends. Wait until the week before, and it seems to drop to $62. AAA

Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, CA - $99 on some weekends. AAA

Trustguy Sep 10, 2008 11:48 pm

HP Ontario Mills -- $93 on most weekends (I shouldn't be telling you folks this)

JohnNova Sep 10, 2008 11:50 pm

Anything good near NYC.... You can PM me if you do not want to post.

Jaimito Cartero Sep 11, 2008 10:44 am

Hyatt Place, North Phoenix. AAA $62 Friday or Saturday. G2 bonus. They know my name before I even check in. :)

margarita girl Sep 11, 2008 12:29 pm

Quite a few in the Dallas area for around $80. Best one I found was Hyatt Summerfield Suites/Addison for $63 (also Dallas area).

I suppose, than, I REALLY shouldn't be telling you that I'm booked for a couple of Sunday stays for $84. AAA

GVA Sep 11, 2008 1:42 pm

There are a few in the Atlanta area going down to 60 bucks a night.

Plus the G1...

I wish I could take advantage of work night stays right now. That is a good hotel for So Cal due to no parking charges.

msbuz Sep 11, 2008 3:19 pm

I was looking in the Atlanta area yesterday. Did not see any $60 range this weekend.

AAA or prepaid is usually the lowest price. Make sure you select the drop down box.

It comes to $93 and something with tax -- seems a popular place for shoppers ... which is no surprise.

martyYYZ Sep 11, 2008 7:48 pm

Hyatt Summerfield Suites Herndon, VA $59 prepaid this weekend 9/12, 9/13
- Wait until the week before, and the rate seems to drop to $59

Hyatt Place Sterling, VA $80 AAA or prepaid weekends
Hyatt Place Chantilly/Dulles Airport-South $71 AAA or prepaid weekends

Summerfield Suites Burlington, MA $89 AAA or prepaid weekends in September

msbuz Sep 17, 2008 9:03 am

Oh my, I finally found one that will work for me. :D

What a cool concept, some of you are actually staying the night in these $60 rooms after you check-in? :D

use the free internet to find out what's playing at the AMC movie theater and at the Edwards movie theater.

The pool is open until 10 p.m. too and great gym, right? :D Well, not really the gym thing.

Love the kiosk check-in.

I have found that you do have to actually stay. I guess I was wrong!

Care to explain what you mean? I have physically checked into local HP hotels (sometimes using the kiosk, sometime with an actual HP Host), and did not use the room. I got credit every time.
Note that I did NOT go back the next day to get my folio or physically check out.

I think the idea is that you may have to physically visit the hotel, rather than just using on-line check-in from your beach cabana in the Maldives, to get credit.

This is consistent with my recent experience. It wasn't always this way; on-line/phone check in was once 'enough'.

I think the point being made above is that with kiosk checkin your credit card has to visit the hotel. You might not be with it.

Hyatt Morristown NJ has $79 AAA or pre-paid rates for this weekend ($91 all in), and is offering the G2 bonus. Its not too far from NYC.

martyYYZ Sep 23, 2008 7:06 pm

HR Rochester, NY $79.20 AAA rate with G3 bonus this Friday (Sept 26)

Thanks for the info. There are trains that go from NYC to Morristown, but is the hotel walkable from the train station?

It is walkable--about 10-15 minutes or so (some of it uphill). If you're arriving on a weekday, the hotel has a shuttle, and you may want to call a few minutes before arrival to see if it's available. I've had about 5% success getting it, but YMMV. If you're on a tight schedule (like if you need to take the train back soon), there are sometimes cabs at the station.

Well, I still don't see how that helps me rack up stays at Dulles South or Denver Tech Center while lounging in my beach cabana in the Maldives... :) However, yes, "phantom stays" (a term coined here at FT, no?) were expressly barred by the 2007 FFN T&Cs, and although the 2008 version leaves that out, I don't think I'd try it.

For the Chicago area, Schaumburg appears to be where it's at for the next three Saturday nights. $80 for HP, $89 for SS or HR (altho HR is unavailable this Sat). SS has a G2 bonus, but the HP is across the parking lot from Ikea!

Am i correct that one cannot use Amerisuite, nor Hawtorn for FFN?

I have the worst luck with getting great rates for dates I need.

msbuz Sep 26, 2008 8:40 pm

I have been looking at Rochester, NY all dates for weekends in Oct. for AAA rates are $159.20. You must have got lucky for the Sept 26th rate of $79.20.

Schaumburg HR, a former favorite of ours, is newly remodeled (not quite finished), but has new owners who have no clue as to customer service! You would be happier at the HP (unless you get Diamond benefits at the HR) which shares the same parking lot.

Hyatt Place Las Vegas
Oct. 1 or Oct. 2
AAA $89
$97 all in + G1 1000 pt. bonus

(not cheap, but at least cheaper)

Friday Sept. 19 ($79 rate available virtually up to the stay date)

Hmm, not seeing many valid 13147 Limited Time Offers in my searches this year. The only hotel actually showing up at Travelzoo is the new St. Louis Riverfront, at $89.

msbuz Oct 5, 2008 7:40 pm

I have tried the limited time offer also with no luck, so I feel your pain. Good rates are hard to get.

HR Cancun $59

...through October (after their announcement that they wouldn't be a Hyatt from Oct 1., and then the deal fell through). With FFN, G2 and the MC 2,000, it's about as good as it gets, in my opinion. And it's Cancun. I also stayed at the Caribe Hyatt for $83. Oh, and occupancy at the two resorts was at rock bottom. BTW, USAir only requires 30K miles, and the flights I was on a couple of weeks ago were 1/2 to 2/3 full.

klakhav Oct 15, 2008 8:39 am

HP - Greensboro, NC

Got a rate of $63.75 at Hyatt Place in Greensboro, NC last weekend. Try that for a good rate. It is close to Wendover and I-40 with many shopping opportunities and good places to eat.

Thanks

kctigers Oct 16, 2008 10:43 am

hi what are the G1 and G2 bonuses please, i cannot find them i am very new to hyatt stay program, just joined 2 weeks ago.. thanks, kctigers.
