Thanks Brendan! And how timely. . .I'm having lunch there today :) I thought it meant I had a CREDIT towards dining; appreciate you taking the time to explain!

Correct - one must hand the certificate over for dining and the points show up a few weeks later. I tended to either take the points immediately (no certificate) or use the paper certificate for food and beverage amenity at a more upscale Hyatt (like PH Paris Vendome).

Ldsant, it means U can earn 1500 GP points for eating lunch or dinner at the restaurant in a Hyatt hotel. When I did it I was shuffled between the restauant cashier & the reception. It's more convenient to just claim 1000 GP points straight-up if that is an option!

choices when 3rd or 6th stay is at HP?
So I have just attained Platinum status. I'm a little confused about the Plat Extras Awards. If my 3rd stay is at a HP, do I earn a certificate for future use? Or must I select my award (food/beverage amenity or 500 pts since I'm at HP) at that stay? If a certificate, are these electronic or paper?
Many thanks! TBH |
Your Pt Extras award will show up in your acct. a few days after U check out of your 3rd or 6th stay. U can call Hyatt to ask the rep. to deposit 1000 points immediately, or ask for a cert. (IDK if it's paper or electronic) for the other options.

I know this was asked in another thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...tra-certs.html), but it's a couple of years old.
Now that we're earning double stay credits, does that apply to the Platinum Extra Awards? I was thinking it must, because of how the award stays are tiered, but after reading through this thread, I can see how a Platinum could reach 21 stays without becoming a Diamond, so... Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm all for earning extra points, but I don't want to waste Hyatt customer service employees' time. |
In the double-stay promotion earlier this year (when I was a platinum), GP Support explained that the double-stays only count for status, not for Platinum Extras - I had asked the same question and they have a separate count to accumulated stays they see when one calls in.

If you choose GP points on the website, they post immediately - no need to call into CS. The other options will generate a printed cert, which arrives in the mail (fairly quickly IIRC). |

I've been staying almost every day this month to earn FFN. I just noticed a "Platinum extras" email message and finally had time to click on it to see what I had to choose from for stays 3, 6, 9, and 12. I decided to go for the points. I made Diamond some time last week. I suppose that's why I see the error, "An unexpected error has occurred while attempting to process our request...." If I call in will they apply the points or am I out the 5,000 points because I became Diamond before selecting my award?
|
Diamond amenity
I had several Paltinum amenity awards due thst expired in Jan and Feb, then I got to Diamond end of Nov, I was going to redeem the awards for points or Stabucks card but when I looked last week they had disappeared from my acct

"An unexpected error has occurred while attempting to process your request. Please try again later. For assistance, please contact Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service at 1-800-30-HYATT or your nearest Worldwide Reservation Center." So I called up customer service and they manually added the points. |
I called in and they added the points :p

for anyone that has redeemed for a F & B item, can you redeem more than 1?
I will be Diamond in the next week. I am taking myself and kids to the PH DC in March. I have 3 pending platinum awards and was thinking of getting 3 F & B items for that trip in addition to my diamond amenity on that trip |

I received an email for Hyatt platinum extras several months ago. I wasn't sure about the 1,000 points vs. 1,500 points for food. I meant to check about the choices here on FT, but forgot to. Thanks to the previous posters' information as I was unsure about how the the F&B points worked.
I just received an email for my next platinum extras award, which reminded me that I had not made a selection on my previous extras award. My previous extras award has expired. Is there any chance that if I call in I could still get it? |

I am new to this. What do I get if I choose Food & Beverage Welcome Amenity
or Complimentary Beverage? Is it worth choosing this instead of 1,000 points? Also, can the amenity be redeemed on an award stay? |
Has anyone encountered issues receiving the 1,500 points for dining while on an award stay?

These points are supposed to be earnable without even staying at the property. |
I had a few questions about the platinum extras certificates. Is there any hope at all of getting the Regency Club Upgrade on a FFN stay (at Hyatt Kauai). I understand that to book ahead of time, it needs to be on a paid stay, but do they ever offer this upgrade at the time of check-in?
My other question is whether it is possible to use several certificates to get several different food and beverage amenities throughout stay. If I am staying 3 nights, can I use 3 certificates to get an amenity each day of my stay? Thanks for your help! |
How long does it take for miles to post if one chooses bonus miles for a Plat Extras award? I want to send 500 miles to my ANA account so I can access *A ANA award tool w/o the workaround.

I've been taking Hyatt points, and they have been posting within a few days |
I have a couple of Platinum Extras certs. On one of them (I think the one I received for qualifying for Platinum), the choices underneath the heading "Hyatt Hotels & Resorts" include Regency Club upgrade. So it appears that it's available for use at Hyatt Hotels AND Resorts. The fine print on the back, however, says not available at Hyatt Resorts. Anyone else notice this?
Based on what I've read on the forum it seems like it wont work at a resort, but I'll bring it with me to HR Maui anyway and see what happens. |
Had been saving a Platinum Extras Certificate for a stay at the GH Kauai intending to redeem it for the Welcome Amenity. At checkin last week, the agent said she had never seen this type of certificate before and didn't think it was valid at the GH Kauai. She checked with the front office manager who said it wasn't, but they would make an exception and honor it. They said they are familiar with the certificate you get when you qualify/requalify for Platinum [they only referred to it as the "cream colored certificate"] which CAN be used at the GH Kauai (I actually used mine there previously without any problem) but, they do not accept the white Platinum Extras Certificate with the silver/gray on the back. I really don't see the difference, but there's probably more to it than I understand.
I emailed GP Customer Service and they said that acceptance of the certificate is essentially at the discretion of each individual hotel/resort and cited the terms on the certificate which say: "This promotion is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Hyatt Gold Passport® program. The use of this certificate at some destinations is subject to government approvals, regulations, restrictions and applicable taxes and is void where prohibited. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this program at any time without notice." I asked if Hyatt or Gold Passport maintained a list of hotels that do not accept the Extra Awards certificates and GP Customer Service replied no. This being the case, it's possible that I could end up saving a certificate for a specific stay, only to find out at check-in that the particular hotel doesn't honor it. Should the expiration be nearing, I may not be able to use it in time for a stay at another hotel, which would be kinda unforunate. :( |
Hawaii777, the expiration dates on those cert.s are printed so faintly as to be unnoticeable & routinely ignored. Although it's a shame :td: about your trouble in Kauai!

Can I use platinum extras certs as a diamond?
I have 2 platinum extras paper certificates that haven't expired. They are the white certs earned for stays 9 and 12. Can I use these for the dining bonus points now that I am a diamond? I know I can't earn them anymore or request any new certs, but these are awards I earned as a platinum and converted to certificates before I reached diamond.

Good Morning,
The Platinum Extras Certificates can be used until expiration regardless of tier status at the time of use. As far as property availability and participation in Upgrades that is something that would need to be communicated either at the time of reservation or before check in so that you are not surprised by the outcome. Best Regards, Nick H. |

Best Regards, Nick H. Why is the expiration date so close? I just got my welcome packet and the cert is good only until the end of next month. That seems like a pretty short window in which to use it (and as it stands, I don't have any travel scheduled in September, so the cert will simply expire:( ). |

Best Regards, Nick H. I was also not able to get any confirmation of upgrade availability in advance of my arrival at the hotel (Regency O'Hare) - and I had a choice between a lower "non-qualifying" rate for the upgrade, and a higher "qualifying" rate. I chose the higher rate and am crossing my fingers that the upgrade will be available when I arrive. If not, I'll be pretty upset that I had to pay a higher rate just to have the opportunity to try for the upgrade. --richard |
I think my question may have been answered but it bears asking.... does the 3/6/9/etc stay clock begin anew each calendar year. I was left with 2 dangling stays in 2010 and am staying tonight and tomorrow at two different properties in DC. Can I expect a cert for my first stay or will need to wait for my third?
|
Yes, it does start over every calendar year. If U look at your account online now, it shows 0 stays & 0 nights now.

Bonus point for dining
I got a Platinum extras certificate with a new Platinum membership card today.
One of the choices on the certificate is 1000 Bonus points for dining My questions are Does it have to be only main meal for lunch or dinner? What if breakfast or only appetizer or drink during lunch or dinner? The certificate t&c doesn't mention about it and when I spoke with GP CSR, he said it would work whatever I eat out there, but it's still not clear to me. Do those kinds of food still work out to get the bonus credit onto my account? Does anybody know it or have this experience? Thanks. |

I agree that the certificate probably won`t post automatically- they never used to for me. It might be a good idea to make a photocopy of the certificate that you can fax in to CS if necessary. |
