If you're not going to stay on-property at Northstar, then I don't think the drive from the Hyatt is too bad. I too have the Epic pass and have done it many times.
Other option is to stay in the Hyatt condos at Northstar. Those are 2 bedrooms, but work well and great location if you have more than 2 adults.

Have the Epic pass as well and the Hyatt Regency is super convenient if you're aiming to hit Northstar. Plus its on the Nevada side and has a casino, that craps table can get hot! Have stayed/skied there 3X this season, love it!

I hate driving, which is my biggest hangup in staying here. I usually fly into EGE or ASE from SF rather than drive to Tahoe for precisely that reason, but this is looking rather expensive this time around. I'm also tempted by a dirt-cheap rate at the at the Holiday Inn Express in South Lake. But maybe I should just suck it up and drive.

You can do Amtrak as well, Ive never done it, but its allegedly a beautiful ride, even if it takes like 6 hours.

I did SFO-RNO once to avoid the drive, though that's often not exactly a cheap option either. $450 round-trip is about the cheapest I've seen… which could get me all the way to Hawaii or Boston.
Never considered WN and OAK, perhaps that's more reasonably priced. Just looked it up, and it's just slightly better at $270 RT.

Somewhat OT (as travel options apply more generally to all of Lake Tahoe) but I have done OAK<->RNO several times the past few years. This route can be found as low as $75 one-way if purchased sufficiently in advance. Plus check your skis and boots for free 😃
there are shuttle options from Reno if you don’t want to rent a car. Beware that i-80 has been closed periodically over par 3 months due to some massive snow storms. Usually reopened within a day. You can also fly into SMF and drive but RNO is normally cheaper thx to Southwest effect.

4th of July BBQ and fireworks
Anyone ever pay for the BBQ and seating for the 4th? Includes game and seating for the fireworks.
Pretty expensive so not sure worth it: $120/$90 (reduced to $90 and $60 for guests).

you want to be confirmed in a cottage upper suite here.
by analogy, don’t go Maldives or Tahiti without overwater confirmed.
it’s that much better.
hyatt prive booking one bedroom suite will get you there.
TSU into one bedroom suite with a low season (Apr/May/Oct) $55 delta upfare works too.

I have an upcoming 4 weeknight stay here, and I just read a review on tripadvisor that the regency club is closed on weeknights. Any idea what benefits are arranged when regency club is closed? I'm a little nervous about the stay because the hotel seems to really nickel and dime everything. When I booked, the pet fee was $50 per stay, which was recently changed to $40/night. When I emailed Globalist desk as well as the direct hotel email, my email was ignored both times. With $40 resort fee per night, $40 dog fee per night, parking, and no Regency Club, the hotel seems way overpriced for the level of service.

You say you emailed the Globalist desk so I assume you are a Globalist. If so, you don't have to worry about the resort fee or parking.

That's right for resort fees, but complementary parking is a Glob benefit for award stays only. I didn't see where it was stated if this was an award or paid stay.

We were there last fall when the Club was closed during the week. We were given complimentary full breakfast in the Sierra Cafe plus two appetizers and drinks in the Lone Eagle Grille Lounge. All considerably more than we would have received if the Club had been open. As Globalist, parking and resort fees waived.
