Good Value Long Term Stays

I’m now working fully remote and can work from anywhere. North and South America are easy because of the time zone I work from (PST), but I’m open to anywhere worldwide.

I’ve found a few good Hyatts for longer term stays (generally 10+ days at a time, up to 30 days). But I’m curious if anyone who travels long term has any recommendations. Looking for good value, from Cat 1-7, and while price is important, sometimes it’s more about good value, location, etc. than price alone. Looking for recommendations within the Hyatt ecosystem. Feel free to DM me if you’d prefer to not give away your secrets to the public.

Thanks!!

HR Mexico City immediately comes to mind. Probably my favorite Regency branded Hyatt ever... affordable, A+ location, clean rooms, excellent staff, good on-site food and amenities and walk-able to a TON of stuff.

Hyatt Merida is a nice property in a lovely town. It is 5000 points a night and had a Regency Club last time I stayed.

Do you need a HH for the kitchen aspect? Because like you, I work remotely, with more restriction, and I live out of hotels. Currently at the HH in Lansing, MI. But many HHs are only doing "mini fridges" in studios now. I am in a 1bd. Frisco, TX has an exceptional staff and has negotiated a long-term rate with me (and others). Manchester, UK is my favorite place, probably ever.

I track prices carefully, and I watch for sales. I managed to get the HH Chicago Medical District for 55 nights for $81 a night (no taxes after 31 days, so they all go back as a credit). Fantastic deals when you find them. I found this one because it's Lansing--a college town--and I had a 34 night stay in July until very early August. Tax exempt in MI too, and slower time due to school not being in session.

Not all states have a tax-exempt after a month(ish) rule anymore.

Chicago in winter (if you like that--I do), Dallas year round, Houston too, and other major urban areas with hotel competition are more likely to have deals.

The Wild Palms in Sunnyvale, CA gets my vote. At least until they upgraded to CAT2.

I don't work from home but I do write books so often spend 1-4 weeks in one property.

Winter at HR Qingdao is an incredible value

HR Guiyang is another jewel

I was spending $80-$100 USD a night for these properties.

Of course I love PH Suzhou.

Because China is facing deflation, the hotels are the best deals in the world right now generally

Quite the time zone change but HP Bangkok comes to mind. If you don't mind the heat there are some very cheap new HP/HH as well in the Phoenix area if you're there June-early September.

Dubai during the summer has some nice HPs at 41€/night plus taxes and fees and some HRs at 48€++ not bad value

This is on my short list, nice to get confirmation it's a good option. Thanks!

This is great, thank you!

Kitchen isn't a requirement. So far I've found rarely cook because the kitchens are too bare boned to do much with. We'll see if that changes over time.

Going outside of the Americas, HR Cape Town is pretty good. Cat 1 a total steal. I just spent 3 weeks there. They are decent with globalist upgrades, filling breakfast, location is walkable to several decent restaurants and cheap Ubers to other parts of town and hiking. Gorgeous weather. Not a lot of Hyatts elsewhere in the country, but worth exploring nonetheless if you’re there anyway.

Also PH Mendoza. Cat 4. Generous with upgrades and lots of amazing food and wine in the city. I am considering a week or so there again.

The Olive 8 and HR in downtown Seattle get significantly cheaper on stays of 13 days or more. While not cheap like a HH or HP, sub $200 nights in downtown Seattle are good value.
